Governing Body of the Organization
As a membership organization as stipulated in its constitution, ANPPCAN Tanzania chapter is governed by a General Assembly and a board composed of 8 people from various institutions and ministries. The secretariat office is headed by an Executive Director with the support of 6 staff members of different professional backgrounds. The organization has 100 active members.
Within its functional objectives and system of administration, the organization has been exerting its efforts in preventing Child Abuse and Neglect and the promotion of child rights as stipulated in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the child.
Currently the organization in collaboration with the Tanzania Foundation for Civil Society has been launching a project in Kisarawe district of Tanzania. Similarly as a member of the Pan African Network, it has been participating in the personnel Exchange program coordinated by the Regional ANPPCAN office and supported by FK Norway Africa Regional office. The program has due contribution for sharing best practices in the area of Child Rights promotion and prevention of child abuse and neglect among member chapters operating in 21 countries of the continent. It is also very helpful to capacitate our organization from organizational capacity point of view.
Moreover in collaboration with the Regional office together with ANPPCAN Uganda and Ethiopia we are conducting a regional project on the Elimination of Child Trafficking on the three border towns of the four countries ie Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Ethiopia.
