Tawa kwa kushirikiana na TGNP na Inernational Human Rights Watch leo tarehe 24 julai tumeanza kutekeleza lengo letu la kufanya utafiti katika makundi ya wanawake yaliyoko pembezoni yaani wanawake wanaofanya biashara ya ngono (  commercial sex workers CSW),wanawake wanaofanya mapenzi ya jinsia moja (women who have sex with women WSW),na wanawake wenye jinsia mbili (Intersex),ambapo tumeweza kuwafikia walengwa wapatao 20.(Intersex 3, CSW 12,WSW 5).Kwa mwanzo huu tumepata mwitikio mkubwa ambao umeweza kuibua masuala mbali mbali yanayowakabili wanawake hawa katika jamii wanayoishi. Utafiti huu umeanzia Dar es salaam ambapo tumewashirikisha walengwa kutoka katika wilaya zote tatu ,Temeke, Kinondoni na Ilala.Tunategemea kuendelea na zoezi hili wiki ijayo na mwisho wa zoezi hili tutatoa taarifa kamili ya utafiti wetu.

Tawa inaendelea na mapambano dhidi ya VVU/Ukimwi kwa wasichana wanaofanya biashara ya ngono kwa kuawelimisha matumizi sahihi ya kondom ya kike (Lady pepeta) na kuzisambaza ili walengwa wasipate maambukizi mapya ya ukimwi.Tumeamua kutoa elimu  hii katika mkoa wa Dar es salaam na wilaya zake ili kunusuru kundi hili ambalo linazidi kuongezeka siku hadi siku.Kampeni hii imeanza Mkoa huu na baadae itaendelea Tanzania nzima katika mikoa inayoonekana ni tishio kwa maambukizi ya ukmwi kama vile Iringa,Mbeya, Arusha  ,Mwanza na mikoa mingine

Tanzania Women of Action (Tawa) currently is working on HIV/AIDs  protection among female commercial sex workers by providing the education  of proper using of female condoms (lady Pepeta). We have trained 16 peer educators who in turn will train others.The activity started  in Kinondoni municipal  and there  after to be held in other municipals   of  Dar es salaam Region .

Tawa,members also find out how to emprove the situation;below are some activities to be implemented

  We need to educate the young female sex workers on their righs,safe sex practising ,proper using of condoms ,lubricants and other issues inorder to prevent themselve to HIV/AIDS.STI,s

Education should be conducted to the community members(parents,guardians,neighboors,school teachers and other stake holders regarding on the young girls in relation to existing situation and how to handle it.(sex and sexuality,HIV/AIDS)and others.This should  be done through trainings, semiars,using media(redio talk show,TV,s,huma talk show (comedy)using mobile films, and various publications, such as brochures.flyers ,booklets,local news papers especialy(UDAKU)news papers as most Tanzanians are interested in reading personal issues.egRisasi.Kiu.Amani,Changamoto and others.

  Conduct a public dialogue focusing young  female commercial sex workers.and others .Tawa members plan, is to conduct more research (not academic)to young female sex workers  through interviews and recording voices ,to enable us to maistreeming their issues

 through different ways as we explained before .This will enable the state actors in collaboration with non state actors to strategies on how to work on this issues.

Tawa,s research finds  out why this risks is in temeke?

 After the interviews we found the following results;-

  1)The life is cheaper in temeke municipal compared to other places (food,acommodation (ghetto)

2)There is no police harresment to commercial sex workes (CSW) like in Kinondoni and Ilala.

3)Business copmetition is low than in Kinondoni

5)Lack of education ,and information to various issues as such they do  not value their bodies and others

.

Tawa,s researchers  also find out why this young girls are engaiging to sex activities ?

  The following reasons came up

-  Separation and divorce of the parents

  Deseased parents because of HIV/AIDS and other diseases.

  The young pregnancy  and practising of same sex to young girls

 Poverty-where as parents failed to take their responsibilities such as take them to school, instead sends them to look for money for the parents food and other expenses

Traditional and customs-some tribes such as Zaramo ,Mwera,Kwere,and others taught their young girls  on how to practise sex with men after and before their monthly periods

Parental cruelity and others.

Tawa members conducted a training held 26-30th May 2012,participated by female commercial sex workers( FCSWs)from Dar es salaam region.The aim was to equip the participants with knowledge and information on STI,s ,HIV/AIDS and human rights issues.Due to the risk that commercial sex workers have to HIV /AIDS and regarded as most at risk population (MARPS),the need of providing the information and knowledge was very essential to the them.

   During the training we had various discussions and some issues came up ,which led Tawa members to engage with the research work(non academic).Sooner after the training we visited 6 different places in 3 municipals of Dar es salaam(Kinondoni ,Temeke and Ilala).Following Tawa,s  research we found Temeke municipal is at high risks to HIV/AIDS compared to others especially to young female/girls between 12-17years.In Tandika area at " BUBUBU" street and Mbagala rangi Tatu we found young girls who are doing commercial sex activities ,have the written words in the house wall as a business advatiziment(MKUNDU BUKU CHA JERO HAKIKOSEKANI)means Anal sex for one thousand and of course you can,t miss services if you have five hundred shillings.
