ANIMALS NEEDS.
Different animals have different needs; however some of the animals needs are common.
- A dog needs:
- Fresh, clean water always available
- A mixed diet of meal such as maize meal or rice or potatoes, vegetables, meat, eggs, milk and any other leftover food
- A warm dry place to sleep to sleep, with clean bedding
- To be vaccinated regularly against such diseases as parvo-viruses, distemper and especially against rabies.
- To be neutered by a veterinary officer to stop unwanted puppies being born.
- Regular exercise.
- Friend to be with other dogs and people.
- To be de-wormed regularly
- To be kept free of ticks and fleas
- To be taken to veterinary officer immediately when it is ill or injured
- A dog should never
- Be locked in a kennel or left on short chain.
- Be beaten, ill-treated or left find its own food.
- Be left to stay on the road
- A happy and health dog will
- Guard your house, protect and warn you about danger.
- Play with you and be your friend.
- A cat needs:
- Fresh, clean water always available
- A mixed diet of meal such as maize meal or rice or potatoes, vegetables, meat, eggs, milk and any other leftover food

- To rest and graze in the shade between the job
- To be de-wormed regularly, twice a year
- To have its hooves trimmed by a veterinary officer or Fourier when they grow too long
- To rest and to see a veterinary officer immediately when it is ill or injured
- To have any sores treated immediately and the harness adjusted to avoid rubbing
- A donkey should never:
- Be worked all day without rest
- Be worked or tethered in a bodily fitting harness
- Work before it is four years old
- Be made to run when it is working
- Be beaten or overloaded
- Be made to work when heavily pregnant
- A happy and healthy donkey will
- Help by steadily carrying and pooling loads long way.
- Farm animals’ needs:
- Lots of Fresh, clean water always available.
- A suitable diet
- To be allowed to roam inside your compound but to have access to shelter at night
- To be vaccinated against common infectious disease
- To be transported with care
- To be de-wormed regularly
- To be kept free from ticks and fleas
- To see veterinary officer immediately when they are ill or injured
- The shelter or enclosure must be clean.
- An owner who will ensure that his animals are healthy, comfortable and happy
- Farm animals should never:
- Be allowed to eat rubbish, plastics, or poisonous plants
- Be left in small enclosure or stable in all time
- Be allowed to roam at night
- Be beaten, frightened or hurt
- Happy and health farm animal will:
- Provide you with wide variety of goods and fresh food.
