White Orange Yoiuth to Implement the GBV Project Funded under Innovative projects from civil societies and coalitions of actors(PISCCA)- French Embassy

As from January 2017, WOY will collaborate with Stakeholders, development partners ,  community members and oth stakeholders to implement the project titled: Community Empowerment for Addressing GBV for Women, Children and Young People.

The main objectives of this project is to provide a framework to reduce violence against women&children of marginalised communities&ensure that their needs for safety&support are met through human rights led-approach, and the project main beneficiries will be Women ,children, young people and perpetraitors. The Main strategies of this project is to build capacity through participatory workshops on identifying root causes of the problem , motivations, priorities setting startegies for reducing and elimination of GBV at their commmunities themselves and action plan for sustaining the interventions by using locally available resources to attain the sustainability of the project and replication to other communities.

 Goal:The capacity of the community members on mitigating gender –Based violence through participatory approach by using locally available resources attained and achieved.

 

Specific objectives.

  1. Participatory Action program to identify gender- based violence at two communities conducted and framework to reduce violence against women&children of marginalised communities set.
  2. Empowered women&children are participating , initiate and promote change within their environmment and address issues of GBV.
  3. Young people are aware of gender-based violence and combat harmful and violent behaviours in the use of social networks.

The direct intended beneficiaries of this project are, Children, Young people, Women, perpetrators and the indirect beneficiaries are men and community leaders. 4000 Women and 6000 Young people sentized on GBV through community events , caravans and community dialogue.

White Orange Youth is establishing pigery projects as sustanable income generation actities the income that can help to cover organisation project activities

White Orange Youth conducted a round table discussion between a new Moshi Mayor and Civic Societ Organizations in Moshi

Theme: Free education and its challenge in Moshi Municipality

Objectives:

The Main objective was to bring social enterprises and NGOs together and address the current free education challenges to Moshi Municipality Mayor.

Specific objective ware as follow:

  1. Participants able to meet mayor in person and exchange contact for further collaboration
  2. Participants able to bring their education related concerns to the mayor
  3. Participants able to explore opportunity available to collaborate with mayor on the development plan
  4. Participants submitted issues that need agent concern by policy makers

Final report 2014

In the fourth quarter of this year the White Orange Youth implements the following activities:

  1. White Orange Youth chosen as the consultant by Childreach Tanzania and Deaf Child world wide to conducting life skills training to the final year Deaf students in two Deaf institutions in Kilimanjaro. The training where conducted to Ghona vocation training center for Deaf and Msandaka Primary school for the Deaf. The total of 25 children reached.

The Purpose and Objective of the life skills training was to prepare final year deaf student for challenges and risks they are going to face back in the society, assist deaf students to explore and develop the skills necessary for successful living and learning, help to develop and transfer of life skills among deaf student leading to informed decision making pertaining to personal life matters, self-development, family, friends, and life-long learning and academic. Among the things that deaf student are trained on are: Entrepreneurship skills, Business ethics and Sexual and reproductive health and HIV/AIDS

  1. White Orange Youth attended East African Youth governance festival in MS TCDC in Arusha USA-river. The festival gathered around two hundred young people from the east African member states. The themes that discussed for five days long were including: Governance and leadership, Entrepreneur ship and Arts and culture for diversity and development. The objective of this festival ware: .i. To enable young people appreciate and understand the underlying causes of injustice and weak governance in East Africa. Ii. To enable young people to recognize their vital role and potential in causing change to happen in society. Iii. To stimulate young people to identify opportunities for change and positive engagement through critical thinking and iv. To demonstrate possible changes by exposing young people to skills in public speaking, generating evidence, entrepreneurship, campaigning, using creative theatre, creative art and creative writing. The last day of the festival we divided in two teams. One team went to the head of East Africa community head quarter and presents the festival resolutions while the other teams marching toward to USA river town and make community aware of East African community integration and promoting individual commitment toward Stop HIV/AIDS by conducting voluntary HIV tests.
  2. WOY attended the Annual Civil Society Organization in Dar es Salaam that organized by the Foundation for Civil Society. The FCS introduced their new fund plan and strategies. Lots of NGOs shared their up- dates and recommendations.
  3. WOY attended East African Civil Society Organization forum in Afusha. The theme of the forum was “ Nafasi za AZAKI kukuza mtagamano wa Jumuia ya Afrika Mashariki. (the role of Civil Society Organization toward strengthening the Regional integration” Many topics were discussed include. What do Tanzanians really think about East African community? Ii. Integrating East African labor market: Addressing disparities in skills, fears and concerns on education system. Iii. The space of CSOs in East Africa community. Aspiration and reality. Iv. Linking small scale farmers and manufactures to East Africa market. What can we do differently? V. Making t EAC –one person, one Destiny a reality: the role of CSOs and media in enhancing citizens awareness and engagement in EAC agenda and vi. The moving forward: strategies to enhance visibility and voice of CSOs in Regional integration. This event last for two days.                           
  4. WOY have participated in the 2014 World AIDS day that held at main Moshi Bus terminal yard the event that organized by Moshi Municipal council. Also participated at the in an advocacy event for addressing the gender based violence special affect women and children. This event was coordinated by KWIEKO.      

The foundation for Civil Society Conducted the monitoring and evaluation visit to White Orange Youth’s office and document success stories from projects that funded by them.
