SEEDO organization is looking for accountant who will provide the day-to-day financial management of several projects and oversee general finances in the zone office.He/she will be reporting to the head of finance, the financial manager; and Will be based in Tanga zone office

Sustainable Environment and Economic Development Organization is non-profitable, non-government organization, working without entry of political and religious aspect. SEEDO vision is “Improved environment and livelihood for communities in mainland Tanzania”; with mission of “Integrate community capacity in sustainable development and environment management in mainland Tanzania”. The Organization main goal is to contribute to an improved income of the communities in Tanzania through sustainable environmental Management.

 

SEEDO organization is promoting women and youth empowerment to improve self-reliance, leadership, entrepreneurship, and employment and reduce gender-based violence. Influencing stakeholders and development partners to participate and advocate on the topic of water and environment, marine & coastal protection, sanitation & hygiene, pollution, and sustainable land management. Contributing on promoting social culture, preserve heritages and empower communities on tourism skills. And improve communities on health, gender and household income.

 

6.0  The key Activities

6.1  Finance administration support.

  • Manage all accounting operations based on accounting principles and record financial transactions in the accounting system
  • Analysis and Preparation of financial accounts monthly, quarterly and annually as per the donor and the SEEDO requirement
  • Risk analysis and financial Forecasts and project depletion for the projects and submitting to Head of Finance Department
  • Follow up on project related receipts and payments, reconcile bank balances and manage liquidity levels of the project based on guidelines of the Head of Finance Manager, project and financial procedures
  • Provide support to local service providers contracted by projects to ensure that their financial records are in line with best practice and the laws of Tanzania and to make sure financial reporting and close out are managed timely;
  • Support project teams in checking, processing and finalizing field payments for trainings and activities in line with SEEDO policies and according to the immediate needs of the project;
  • Management of petty cash.
  • Management of online banking and mobile Transaction
  • Custodian of all accountable documents in the location office.

6.2  Management Reporting.

  • Collect, review and analyse and interpret (trends in) financial and non- financial data.
  • Preparation of financial statements, budgets and reports
  • Draft financial reports on projects for the donors and SEEDO using SEEDO and donor reporting formats.

6.3  General Support

  • Draft correspondence, signal bottlenecks in planning and suggest solutions based on requests of team and agreed general support routines.

6.4  Databases

  • Accurate and timely management of transactions
  • Management of Sales force Data for all projects based at the office

6.5  Fraud and corruption

  • Management of the organization financial systems and policies;
  • Ensure control, monitoring and execution of all financial and related activities for the projects.;
  • Helping in identifying fraud and corruption in the projects; and Provide close support during auditing;

7.0  Requirements

  • At least Diploma on accounting, finance or its equivalent and CPA;
  • A candidate from Tanga City is an added advantage;
  • Proven numeracy and data analysis skills;
  • Proven experience in accounting for / or assisting with the management of project grants / restricted funding from a range of donors;
  • Discretion and a proven ability to handle confidential and sensitive information;
  • Strong computer literacy and experience with accounting packages;
  • Strong administrative and organisational skills.
  • More than 2 years experience working with NGOs or local authorities

Position: Human Resources Manager

Report to: SEEDO Director

Type of contract: volunteer

Duration: 6 months renewable

Based in: Tanga city.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  1. Adherence to SEEDO policies, guidance and procedures.
  2. Contribute to SEEDO Policy development, strategies, project proposals and provide input on needs and gaps.
  3. Ensure capacity building of project staff and transfer key skills.
  4. Liaise and collaborate with relevant local authorities and other key stakeholders.
  5. Promote the rights of staff in line with the advocacy strategy.
  6. Communicate, exchange information and co-operate with relevant external actors in the areas of responsibility.

Qualification

  • University degree in law, Human Resources, development studies / other relevant field/ the equivalent
  • Minimum of 1 years work experience with NGO, legal or international organization in the area of Human resources.
  • Experience from working as a legal or policy officer
  • Experience working with and implementing projects through local partners.
  • Reporting and analytical skills.
  • Experience in conducting assessments
  • Community mobilization skills.
  • Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities.
  • Knowledge about own skills/profile.
