Sango Kipozi

As one of Tanzania's leading social entrepreneurs, Sango Kipozi is a household name in Tanzania. Connected to numerous leaders of Tanzanian civil society, Sango has been invaluable in helping Envaya spread across Tanzania.  She is currently the Executive Director of the NGO JEAN Media, and has recently launched a community radio station in Mtwara.

Anthony Walton

Anthony Walton has written about social justice issues for publications ranging from The New York Times to Harpers and the Oxford American. His 1999 Atlantic Monthly essay “Technology versus African Americans” was one of the first to note the importance of bridging the digital divide in the United States and the wider world. With extensive experience in journalism, publishing, and film, he works to help Envaya explain its goals and purposes in the interest of expanding its reach to the populations who can most benefit from it. He teaches at Bowdoin College.

Larry Diamond

Larry Diamond is a leading contemporary scholar in the field of democracy studies. He is presently a professor of Sociology and Political Science at Stanford University, where he teaches courses on democratic development and supervises the democracy program at the Center on Democracy, Development, and the Rule of Law. He has published extensively in the fields of foreign policy, foreign aid, and democracy. Diamond has served as an advisor to numerous governmental and international organizations, including the U.S. State Department, United Nations, World Bank, and U.S. Agency for International Development.

Jeff Schnurr

Envaya co-founder Jeff Schnurr travelled in over 35 countries before landing in Tanzania, where he began the tree planting initiative that grew into Community Forests International. Comfortable speaking English, Spanish or Swahili, Jeff has done much to spread the techniques of forest renewal around the globe and has planted over half a million trees in the process. From his experiences, Jeff has a keen understanding of the needs and hurdles facing small, community-based organizations in underdeveloped regions and recognizes the importance of bridging the technological gap between these organizations and the larger development community.

Mary J. Herman

Mary's wealth of knowledge and experience in diverse fields is a distinctive strength. In her career she has worked and volunteered in the healthcare, social services, non-profit, education, and governmental/public policy sectors. As a successful businesswoman and non-profit professional, the First Lady of Maine during the Governor King administration, and founder of her own consulting firm, Mary’s encouragement, counsel, and expertise have been invaluable to Envaya.

Charlie Hale

As a co-founder of the Global Health Corps, Charlie Hale brings significant non-profit and international development experience to the Envaya team. He graduated from Colby College with a degree in Government, and currently works on the Public Policy team at Google focusing on geopolitical issues.

Eric Ng'maryo

Eric Ng'maryo is one of Tanzania's leading businessmen.  He founded and owns a successful cocoa export company, Tanganyika Film & Safari Outfitters, and Ndarakwai Ranch, and is one of the country's most well-established lawyers.  He's actively involved in supporting Tanzanian civil society, and is very excited about Envaya's potential to empower local development organizations.

Mbwana Alliy

Tanzanian entrepreneur Mbwana Alliy is passionate about high-tech development in East Africa.  A graduate of Stanford Business School, he recently founded the East Africa tourism site Yellow Masai.
