To reach a dream a Volunteer has to apply for an opportunity with resume attachment, pay eligible fees and other obligation statues and up-on arrival,

SIDI will place in a variety of projects which include childcare and orphanage placements, teaching projects, medical and economic empowerment programs and no political rally, human rights champagne, any project for profit making and business investments mission affiliations programs to be applied in the application package.

This organizations engages in the social development fields will provide an enlightening and rewarding experience for student and professional volunteers. The Internship/Electives in Tanzania offers you the great chance to extend your help and skills to others as well as gain relevant practical experience A

Applying for an Opportunity:

Applications must be made using the on-line application attached by current resume. No formal application package available user your own format, applications are sent first to the Volunteer Co-ordinator for initial assessment. The next stage will be for SIDI to reply your request online basis requesting further information if didn’t appeared in your initial application. It is also a chance to focus your mind on the objectives of your trip and what is expected of you as a volunteer. Once your final application has been processed; you will be assigned to your interviewer by email to clarify your desire and ambition. Therefore it is very important that when completing the application form you ensure that your email address is correct.                                                            

About Tanzania: It is the home to over 120 local tribes, some of the most recognizable natural wonders in Africa such as Mt Kilimanjaro, Serengeti, Zanzibar islands and Victoria Falls and is one of the most appealing and popular tourist destinations in Africa. It enjoys religion, political and tribal stability and while its people are good and ease to make friendship with foreigners, Tanzania although has over 120 tribes its people are talking Swahili language as the nation common language and English is being accepted in most official and business areas includes Government offices.

120 Tribes based in Tanzania are sharing the models of their traditional and cultural aspects includes the model of crafting, painting and documenting their art and crafts and have similar words when writing their words and pronounce few words but they living in peace and cooperation .The Tanzanian economy has made some great improvements since its independence in 1961 and is one among the Nation receiving highest direct foreign investments includes gold, gas, oil and precious metals

Opportunities available:  

The various related programs includes social services, children and young care, education from pre-school to university levels, health and medicine, art and craft promotion, museum and libraries ,economic empowerment to women and youth groups, water and sanitation development, computer and technology, developing project proposals ,HIV/AIDS and support street children

Program Requirements:                                                                                                  

Volunteers must be 17 years or older at the beginning of the program. The volunteer should bring energy and enthusiasm to make a difference. You would need lots of patience since you are working with new communities, be available for an overseas phase of 1-3 months be, in the opinion likely to benefit from and contribute to the program development; be able to pass the necessary migration obligation medical and police check requirements; be able to raise the necessary funding required to meet living and organizational cost; be able to communicate effectively in English and learn basic words of Swahili.

Project Location:

SIDI provides volunteer placements in and around Mwanza city and surrounded villages and communities in Northern Tanzania. Mwanza is surrounded by Lake Victoria close to some of Africa's most famous landscapes and national parks as Mount Meru on the eastern edge of the eastern branch of the Great Rift Valley, it has a mild climate and is close to Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Manyara, Olduvai Gorge, Tarangire National Park, and Mount Kilimanjaro, The area is very popular among the tourists especially those taking safaris as well as beach diving, swimming and fishing

During Your Arrival Mission:

Visa and Travel: This is paid at Tanzania embassies and tourism agencies based aboard at nearest office to you, seek further information about flights and logistic that convenient to your pocket and appropriateness. You can seek more information at www.tanzaniaukembasy.org.tz. Tanzania is a large country with plenty to explore once you have finished your program. BLF is strongly recommends that volunteers can allow at least one extra week for travelling, whilst volunteers on the seven or ten week program allow at least two extra weeks.

Many volunteers head off on safari in the Serengeti, one of world's most spectacular national parks. You'll want a good camera, as the scenery and wildlife are fantastic. You may want to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa's highest mountain, visit the spice markets of historic Zanzibar or relax on the beautiful beaches before heading home. An amazing experience awaits you whatever you decide.

Insurance: Volunteers have the option to purchase Travel and Medical Insurance at a nominal extra cost from insurance firm upon arrival, In Tanzania there are local and regional based operating firms like MEDEX, covers insurance and price vary, remember most of the well-known worldwide insurance company are not operating in the Tanzania  

Airport Receive/ Transfer: You will be met by our representative at Mwanza International Airport in Mwanza region from where you are transferred to the Geita town for accommodations as per agreed place. Volunteers can also arrive via Nairobi, Kenya and take a direct shuttle or bus to Mwanza then Geita, one hour drive. They will be picked up at the bus station in Mwanza after telephone and e-mail communication as which the bus you are traveling to Geita will end its safari in Mwanza Tanzania then with your BLF’s staff would heading to Geita smoothly

Orientation: All volunteers will be provided with an orientation session by the local Coordinator. Areas like safety, cultural barriers, shopping centers, post offices, locations, transportation, and things to see etc will be covered in the Orientation. After your orientation is over, you will be introduced to your project.

Returning Home                                                                                                                 Volunteers return to their home country after a unique and wonderful experience. We ask all volunteers to give us feedback on our volunteer program in order that we can continually improve it. Many volunteers keep in touch with BLF and get involved supporting new volunteers. You'll have the experience of a lifetime learning a lot about yourself and life in a developing country.

Lodging: Volunteer Accommodation is provided in a rented house which at your application you would be asked if you are willing to share or need private house at what cost you like for smooth accommodation considering your economy and interest, although both accommodation will have the value for foreigners includes security, privacy and human aspects. The Volunteer housing is well equipped with comfortable facilities for the volunteers from developed world.

Food: Volunteers are provided with 3 meals in a day. Typical meals include Salads, Sandwiches, Ugali, Chapatti, Chai (Tea) , Bread and rice with vegetables and fruits. Although volunteers can arrange cooking own foods ;if they wish to eat independent with support of our full time paid cooks and will attract extra cost in preparation of extra foods as recommended, but there is no trained experts in cooking foreign dishes like Italian, French etc

In country Travel Assistance: Volunteers are assisted by the local staff and coordinators for any kind of assistance they need for their travel arrangements. The local staff and coordinators will be happy to assist you in making arrangements for any safaris or trip to field, tour and leisure events

Pre-departure Information: After we receive full and final payment all participants are provided by a pre-departure information booklet by e-mail which will have all vital information about your program. The Pre Departure Information Booklet provides the complete details of the country, Project locations, Visas, immunizations, Things to pack list, Accommodations, Contact Information etc. Information will be available within 14 weeks based on flexibility on selection of favored project working station; applied by volunteers

In-country Support: 24 hours support provided by our local staff. You will be provided with the contact details of the local coordinator and staff that will be contactable 24 hrs once you are in country.

 Program Participation Cost:  

BLF advised you to pay a deposit of 50% through Telegraphic Transfer in our bank account after interview selection and conformed your opportunity and then the final payment is due one month before departure. For a detailed breakdown of where the money goes please check the costs page of our website. Approximately 60% goes on your costs as a volunteer such as food and 30% goes to support the field work undertaken by volunteers as field work and project development
