MUDEA has committed itself to focus on a number of issues in order to respond effectively to the challenges in the context facing grassroots communities. The areas of concern include;

Interpretation and implementation of HIV/AIDS prevention and mother to child transmission of HIV prevention;

Raising awareness on life skills and reproductive health in the communities

Gender and women empowerment

Deepening ethics, accountability and trasparecy at local level where MUDEA is training the communities at Mtaa level on how engage the government on policy formulation, holding the government to account on their resources, assisting the Mtaa Governments to formulate standing committees of Finance, Economic and Planning; Social Services and Self Reliance and the Security and Safety Committees to ensure the Mtaa Government is led by the people for their own good.

PAST EXPERIENCE:

In 2003 MUDEA engaged in promoting gender equity in education for Hannasif Ward in Kinondoni Municipality. The programme was funded by The Foundation for Civil Society (FCS).

In 2005 the organization in collaboration with MICO Mkwajuni conducted training the effects and prevention of HIV/AIDS and Mother to Child transmission of HIV to Hannasif residents. The programme was facilitated by Concern Worldwide.

The same year MUDEa in collaboration with Kinondoni Moscow Women's Development Association (KIMWODA) a project on civic and voter education in five districts in Tanga and Coastal regions. This was a general elections year and the project was funded by United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

In 2004 and 2008 MUDEA conducted training on civic education and good governance in Ilala Municipal. The target group were informed on their rights to engage the government the government of policy formulation processes, to monitor their resources management and its equal distribution and hold the government to account. The project also saw the focus groups established to engage in dialogues with the government.

Since 2010 MUDEA is empowering the stakeholders in Chanika ward on Citizens' engagement in deepening ethics, accountability and transparency on public resources management at local level. his is due to the fact that Mtaa is a strong instrument for the effective participation and involvement of people in decision making and social, economic and political activities. MUDEA is also continuing is establishing Standing Committees of Finance, Economic Planning; Social Services and Self Reliance ,and Security and Safety Committees. The programme is financed by FCS
