At the moment IRS in collaboration with NELICO and in partnership with Plan International Geita Program Unit are conducting training on child rights in line with the Convention on the Rights of the Child [UNCRC] and African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child [ACRWC], and Local Child Rights Instruments on chilld rights especially the new Law of the Child Act no. 21 of 2009. The training targets local government professionals, social workers and representatives of the CSOs and CBOs. The Goal is to enhance the local capacity at government and community level for promotion and protection of child rights and to build alliances especially for sharing of information and reporting mechanisms of incidences of violation of child rights. The programme is undertaken in Kasamwa, Katoro, Ihanamilo and Kalangalala wards in Geita Disrict, Geita Region of Tanzania. Professionals at both District and Ward levels of government will be involved.
