Project Description

Governance and Accountability
We had election of ten representative members of 4 districts of Tanga region, named, Pangani, Handeni, Kilindi and Tanga City, further more there was election for parliament leaders (speaker, depute speaker, Secretary and depute Secretary) elected during this time in those districts mentioned above

Project Outputs and Activities

Increased participation of youth in Local Government Authority planning process
election of parliament leaders and ten representatives from each district of Pangani, Handeni, Kilindi and Tanga city through youth parliament assembly
40, Members of youth parliament were elected to form youth parliament in the regional level from 4 districts of Pangani, Tanga, Handeni and Kilindi. 4 leaders from each district elected (Speaker, Depute Speaker, Secretary and Depute Secretary)
Activities supposed to be conducted April to June 2011, but was conducted December 2011to February 2012. the reason is delay of fund from FCS
1. Election of leaders and 10 representatives for region level 3,157,000
2. Preparation of report 70,000
2. Administration Cost 1,770,000

Project Outcomes and Impact

Participation of youth in decision making process in local government level through proper platform
Having youth parliament leadership and 10 representatives from 4 district is big achievement. Recognition of youth parliament in the respective districts, where youth are presenting in decision making process
Positive promises from district commissioners of Kilindi, Pangani Tanga and Handeni, on how youth parliaments will be used to foster development in their districts and entire nation: example Hon Betrice Shelukindo promised to take Kilindi Youth Parliament to National assembly in Dodoma to learn how Bunge conducted, dupute Mayor of Tanga City promised to contribute 100,000 to Tanga City bunge fund

Lessons Learned

Explanation
High acceptance of the project in those areas where we inaugurate youth parliament
That Government needs to stimulate youth to take action in their localities, but they did not have proper platform
politicians are want to be praised, if you pass bay them, they be against you

Challenges

Big changes of budget, as the planned budget was not enough to cover the costs of food and transportwe used all administration cost to compensate the amount effect

2. in all districts guest of honuor were from District councils, they were very positive for the project
