BAGODES Program Areas
Clearly identifying our choice of program areas was vital first step during the strategic planning process. This allowed partners and BAGODE staff to further refine its underlying causes of vulnerability to orphans, their families and come up with strategic directions for others who also might be targeted within the program activities. At this point, we had to articulate ourselves and determine areas in which we are competent, capable and are in line with our beneficiaries needs as areas of focus for our intervention. Our general concern went back to the dreams and aspiration of our founder members, which was care, and protection of children in the society. However, further critique of the situation with our stakeholders and the sectoral needs for our country made us to focus our program in child protection specifically child care through the adoption and foster law of Tanzania as our main tool for enabling orphans and street children live in families and access care and support.
Because of the above analysis, BAGODE will now work in one cause of child protection with three interrelated themes namely:

1. Foster and adoption
Under this area, programs will include
- Raising awareness on the foster parenting and child adoption in Tanzanian context through capacity building to families
- Psychosocial support
2. Child Development
Under this area, programs will include
- Reintegrating street children to their families and into schools
- Supporting families living with orphans vulnerable children social
- Economic empowerment to marginalized girls and women through Village Community Banking
- Provision of life Skills for out of school youth aged between 15 and 18 years.
- Education support for orphans vulnerable children
- Promotion of Gender balance
- Nutrition support to children and women living with HIV/AIDS
3. Parenting skills:
Under this area, programs will include:
- Equity of girls and boys
- Nutrition skills to parents/guardians
- Poverty alleviation through economic empowerment for better hosting of children
Program strength
1. Advocacy and Networking
Strengthen the foster and adoption law of Tanzania by acquiring and analyzing the present laws and production of a popular version
Advocate for local activists
Conducting of Legal literacy sessions through medias and public meetings
Involving law enforcers at the community/local level and the Nation level
Establishment of strategic networks for advocacy of the law.
