Zanzibar Non-State Actors Support Programme (ZANSASP) (Zanzibar, Tanzania)

Zansasp is welcoming contributions on the study it is curently conducting.

The study and related outputs (toolkit and policy dialogue recommendations) will participate in unlocking tax benefits for NPO sector, encourage social responsibilities by creating incentives for corporate and private contributions and develop further the local Social Economy through adapted fiscal policies. The issue is both about NGO tax efficiency and fiscal authorities legislative and policy mandates and vision for supporting non-state actors in their development activities. Both type of actors in Zanzibar seem to have demonstrated high level of inefficiencies in the area and this assignment aims at bringing some clarity on the issue and more importantly focusing on practical solutions to remedy this.

With many organisations experiencing significant reductions and difficulties in accessing donor funding, these issues are becoming increasingly important. This is also true as tax authorities, through more innovative and efficient use of technologies and global pressure for better fiscal governance, are becoming more effective in tax collection and fiscal monitoring. For more information and/or if you want to contribute or be part of the policy dialogue, contact the technical assistance team.
