I look into the different organizations within this site. It is apparent that there are few women seated in power. I am quite sad that there is still imbalance between gender roles there in Africa. If this reality remains for the next few years, there will be no progress.

Abuse and addiction are two problems that cannot be solved easily. There are many causes to it: exposure, environment, excuse/entitlement as several of them. I could be a haughty scholar and say education, or re-education, is key, but it takes more than that. I do not believe there are no laws about it, but again, like in any other country, the implementation of these laws are the problem. Consistency in any anti-abuse and anti-addiction program is a must.

How much protection do the victims of abuse and addiction get? And what type of rehabilitation do the abusers and addicts go through?

As for poverty, it should not be always viewed as cause of the problems within a country but a means for a country to propel itself to do better. We already know corruption and graft are serious issues within our governments. Still, people do have a choice and they do have power. Unfortunately, I cannot offer any more thoughts about poverty than that.
