The Wilfried Lemke message (Under-Secretary-General ;Special Adviser to the Secretary-General on Sport for Development and Peace)

Participating in these Global Peace Games gives you a unique opportunity to play an active role in UN and worldwide efforts to improve the world through sport. It is an opportunity for you to demonstrate to your family, friends, and communities the value that sport has in creating a better world.

I hope that you enjoy the fun and activities the Games will bring, but I also would like you

to take time to reflect on how you as an individual can use sport to create a positive future

for the world. I encourage you to use the lessons learned through today’s games as a

We invite everyone to come and take part in celebration of peace day 21st September 2014

Health Training & 5km Running Race event

The above event will be organized by the United States Peace Corps, an organization established to promote world peace and friendship through the service of American Volunteers abroad and Rwanda youth Solution organization as partner organization on 7th and 8th September 2013, in MUSANZE at UBWOROHERANE STADIUM.

During this event  hold an educational training on nutrition, exercise, and HIV/AIDS followed by a 5 kilometer running race in Musanze. Ideally, the event would bring together about 25 students from rural schools around the Northern Province where Peace Corps Volunteers are currently living and working. This is organized because the youth in Rwanda, specifically in rural areas, are not always well-informed on what constitutes a nutritious diet or on the importance of regular exercise. We hope that teaching students about this information will equip them to make changes in their own lives and also in the lives of fellow students and community members. In order to be sustainable, the student participants will become educators in their schools and communities on the importance of good nutrition, exercise, and HIV/AIDS.                                              All people affected will make changes in their lifestyle in order to be healthier.

We expect to continue to follow up the trained students to assist them in the learnt message transmission.

we are calling to the parents from MUSANZE to send their children to get more information on a nutritious diet or on the importance of regular exercise.

With our special thanks to MUSANZE district leaders to allow us to execute that event in MUSANZE and meet the children.
