MEMBERSHIP Membership in the Association shall be considered as a privilege that confers rights and imposes obligations to ensure active participation in the affairs of the Association and to maintain high standards of professional conduct. Any person, entity, or organization interested in the mission and objectives set forth in Articles II and III of these Constitution and By-Laws and possessing the necessary qualifications shall be eligible for membership. Membership in the Association shall be of SIX categories: Founding Honorary, Associative, Institutional, Ordinary, and Student. Founding members; These are those who play a greater role on establishment of the Association. members shall be exempt from payment of dues but entitled to all rights and privileges of a ordinary member. Honorary membership; May be conferred on any individual in recognition of outstanding contribution in the field of computing or for distinguished service for the cause of the Association. Honorary members shall be exempt from payment of dues but entitled to all rights and privileges of a ordinary member except those of voting and holding office in the Association. Associative membership; Is open to persons, corporations, partnerships, or other associations, directly or indirectly engaged in the practice of Computing; provided, that such persons, corporations, partnerships, or other associations are interested in giving support to the Association and are endorsed by a Association member in good standing and approved by the Membership Committee; Associative members shall have the following rights and responsibilities: a) They shall be acknowledged in all publications of the Association; May be granted to educational or research institutions or other organizations directly or indirectly engaged in the teaching, research or the practice of Computing; provided, that such educational or research institutions or other organizations are endorsed by a Association member in good standing and approved by the Membership Committee; Institutional members shall have the following rights and responsibilities: a) They can publicize their membership in the Association; Ordinary membership; May be granted to an individual aged 14 to 35 years old who is a; a)Holders of a certificate, diploma or bachelor(s) or graduate degree in Computer Science or related field; Application for Ordinary membership must be endorsed by a Association member of good standing and approved by the Membership Committee. Ordinary members shall be eligible for life membership after five years of membership in good standing. Student membership; May be granted to individual who is registered in a recognized educational institution (public or private) taking computing studies or related discipline. Student members, shall have the following rights, privileges and responsibilities:

Membership of a Professional Association; Membership of the Association provides participants an opportunity to associate professionally with some of the most experienced IT practitioners in Tanzania or from other countries. People can tap knowledge and views with many members at the various functions that are organised by the Association. 3. Conferences, workshop, Seminars & Talks; The Association holds seminars and regular events where renowned local and international personnel in the IT industry are invited to present papers. Both Chapters are also involved in organisation of events to further public knowledge on selected IT issues. 4. Awards, Competitions & Trophies for Winners; The Association organises competitions and gives trophies for various achievements within the IT industry. 5. Newsletters; The Association recognise that IT requires continuous learning, and The Association can help your IT career development by keeping you up-to-date with the trends in the industry, creating networking opportunities with IT Professionals. 6. Publications; All members of the Association in good standing shall have the privilege to receive copies of all official publications of the Association. 7. Article; Eligibility to publish articles on Association's knowledge portal, journal, and to present it on meetings. Apart from all above benefits, other special benefits are; a) Institutional and associative membership 1. To be acknowledged in all publications of the Association. 2. They can publicize their membership in the Association. b) Student membership 1. Opportunity for students to interact with Industry professionals and chalk out a career path. 2. Eligibility to apply for project sponsorship. |
