APIB was founded in 2002,

 Poverty Reduction

Since the year 2002, APIB endeavored to combat the poverty in collaboration with other actors in development. In partnership with Care International, it helped the poor population to initiate a system of saving and loan-Intambwe whose principal objective was to accustom the population to the stimulation of the Community saving like approaches installation of the social and economic solid bases of rural micro-finance. 

 

That made possible to the poor to constitute their own funds which were used in grants appropriations to the members who had generating activities of income to undertake. The problem of lack of investment or working capital was solved.

In quantified term, APIB initiated and followed with advices 76 groups of saving and credit since 2002 until 2004 when these groups were separated. Since 2008, APIB follows 16 groups in District of Gakenke, 48 groups in District of Musanze, 56 groups in District of Burera of the Northern Province and 24 groups in the District of Nyabihu and 28 in the District of Rubavu in Province Western.  This project is into double edges: The reduction of poverty and the protection of the Volcanoes National Parc.

 

Now, APIB is helping 64 families of the marginalized population “BATWA” in Cyanika and Gahunga sectors of Burera District, in Nyange sector of Musanze District in poverty reduction and the improvement of their living conditions. 23 have small business as small commerce, 41 are in vocational training on tailoring, carpentry, masonry and basket making. After finishing training they will receive the materials and equipment for being able to realize their Income Generating Activities “IGAs”

 

Since 2007, APIB started to collaborate with the basic Authorities in the identification of poorest sorted in the village level so that they profit from a framing psycho social and economic. So, 420 poorest and more vulnerable households whose 60 households of HIV positives, 100 households managed by the women (widows, separated or never married ), 48 households managed by the orphans or orphans framed  socially and  economically  in the District of Gakenke, sector of Kivuruga, Cyabingo, Rusasa and Busengo. 

 

They received a psycho-moral framing for six months, of the various formations (creation and management of an association, development and management a small generating project of incomes, the entrepreneurship, the system of Voluntary, saving and loan , co-operative life and management of conflict in an association). 60 % of the beneficiaries chose the Income generating activity such as small business, mushroom cultivation, 40 % also received vocational trainings in tailoring, carpentry, basket making, manufacture of packing out of papers and photography. 

 

As result, much of them were equipped out their houses in domestic equipment, others bought the cultivable pieces and cattle, others could pay the school fees for their children, the expenses of mutual insurance company of health, etc.  .

 

In the same aid area, 63 households of historically marginalized people were been helped to have training in tailoring, carpentry, basket making and masonry. They developed also the Income Generating Activities “IGAs”.  Everybody received materials and equipment for continuing their activities.

Now, APIB has a street Children Center for help in preparing of the children before they are being socially and economically reintegrated.

Environment area

In 2004, Twenty seven thousand (27.000) stocks of bamboos were planted by the population in their bordering fields of the PNV in collaboration with MINAGRI in its Park Project for peace. These bamboos arrive at harvest, reason for which on January 30 2008 we carried out contacts near the Executive Secretaries of the Sectors bordering on the PNV for the explanation of the activities of conscientisation for the good management of these bamboos. We organized more than 36 meetings with an aim of sensitizing the bordering population of the PNV on the protection and the conservation of the natural resources.
