WELCOME TO THE SITE OF MISSION TO DISADVANTAGED PERSONS TANZANIA LIMITED. You are visiting the site of this Company which has been registered by the Registrar of Companies in the name of Mission to Disadvantaged Persons Tanzania Limited. It has its offices situated on Plot No 10 Sitakishari in Ukonga. Briefly, this Company is a result of the work of a group of eight medical personnel in Ilala District in Dar together with other professional staff in the field of information technology, personnel administration, business management, politics and law who decided to be formed into a company whose mission is to help the most disadvantaged persons in the country. The Company is limited by guarantee and having no share capital and states in its Memorandum and Articles of Association that it is “non profit, non religious and equal opportunity company established to advocated, promote and recommend programs that will stimulate the provision of medical care and other necessary services to all groups of disadvantaged persons in Tanzania (beneficiaries) in order to ensure their improved health and social services”. The Company’s vision is to become the most effective and efficient Company in Tanzania involved in geriatric care management, gerontology and care of all disadvantaged groups of persons. The Company had already embarked upon registration of beneficiaries after getting approval from the relevant local authorities. The registration process has a number of challenges including some of those who do not qualify to be disadvantaged persons within the Company’s definition also fighting their way to be included in the list of beneficiaries. The company defines the “disadvantaged person” to be "a citizen of United Republic of Tanzania of an apparent age of more than 60 years who is(a) (i) Earning less than Tz. 1,500/=per day and (ii) Is wholly or partly cared by a family member, relative or any other person whose daily income is less than Tz. Shs 1,500/=. (b) All persons affected by dementia, blindness, cerebral palsy, hydrocephalus patients, stroke victims due to cerebral vascular accident, street children, disabled persons and persons affected by drugs, HIV/AIDS victims who are either under no any body’s care or are cared by a family member, relative or any other person whose daily income is less than Tz. Shs 1,500/=." To sustain the Company ‘s operations the Company intends to open a chain of dispensaries in Tanzania serving both the beneficiaries (freely)and non beneficiaries (at a profit) out of which any profit will be re-invested for furtherance of the objects for which the Company has been established. The Company strictly prohibits dividends to its members and will raise its capital through a variety of ways including subscriptions from its members, affiliates, friends, sponsors and associates. The company has already acquired an office, a house which will be used as a dispensary in Ilala District and is in the process of acquiring land in Fukayosi Village in Bagamoyo District for future establishment of a Geriatrics Care Management Centre. MEMBERSHIP AND LEADERSHIP The company is managed by an Executive Board which consists of five Directors, four from the medical profession and one from human resources management. Under it several ad-hoc committees are formed to address specific problems and challenges arising from time to time. The Chairman of The Board is Dr. Alex Mwita who has been involved in medical issues at national level for several years and assisted by David Kaijage, the managing Director of the Company. David is a trained human resources management professional who has worked in the Tanzania Civil Service, The National Bank of Commerce, Best Tigra Industries and Kilombero Sugar Company where he retired last year, holding the position Human Resources Administration Manager. David has been a key player in the formation of the Company and currently also actively involved in the management of Muko Company Limited a private company which offers secretarial service to the Mission. The members of the Mission are carefully selected to ensure that they will actively be involved in carrying on certain functions relevant the objects for which the Company has been formed.
