TASJA is a forum of journalists and scientists/researchers working for the development of science communication in Tanzania. TASJA objectives are to enhance the quality of reporting of science through which science journalists can discuss the development of science communication and to provide a professional link for journalists and scientists.

TASJA was seeded on August 15th, 2011 in Dar es Salaam by journalists who were attending the science workshop funded by media council of Tanzania. It was founded on the belief that journalists practicing Science, Technology and Innovation, had no platform where they could share and talk about their own development as journalists.

The Tanzania Science Journalists Association is a non - political, not for profit professional association, draws its membership from practising Science Technology and Innovation in Tanzania. It is a volunteer organization led by elected leaders who meet at least twice a year to conduct Tasja business and formulate policies for its members. The organization is supported by members - paid dues and through partner organizations. One of the most important reasons for its founding was to bring together members, and get them to discuss and debate ideas and trends on where Science, Technology and Innovation are going.
