SOCIAL VISION GROUP TANZANIA (SOVIGOTA)

 

Definition:      Social Vision group Tanzania (SOVIGOTA)is community based Organization, committed to the empowerment of the Youth and Poor and capacity building for social and economic transformation.           

Background : This group was initially formed in 2002 when group of Youth , Community members mainly Peasant farmers, teachers, Social workers, Health workers, researcher, religious personnel in Same organized a meeting to discuss how they could make sense of their faith in a rapidly changing worlds, with increasing gap between the rich and the poor, untold sufferings of many in the villages, increasing social ills among the youth, lack of moral integrity among many and the fast spreading HIV/AIDS scourge.

                        The outcome of this meeting was a commitment to establish a Social fund which is to be directed to helping the least advantaged especially by trine to change their condition to make them free to help themselves with dignity and to the victims of HIV/ AIDS. The formation of an association was deemed necessary in order to share the idea with a wider community, at national and international level.

 

Registration of Social Vision group Organization.

Social Vision group Organization was Officially Registered with Registration No. 07NGO/129

 

Vision:            SMGT draws inspiration of Youth and Communities from the authentic, anthropology and experience of people in difficulty, striving towards a culture of solidarity within the Tanzanian community: to ensure that

v  Dignity and the fundamental rights of each person are safeguarded and respect.

v  The common good prevail over individual interest.

v  Disadvantaged persons are empowered to develop their resources and helped to restore their sense of co-responsibility in building a better society that excludes none.

Mission:          Support youth in Alleviating poverty through empowerment and capacity-building.

                        Promote integral human development and Social justice.

Responsibility to live our world through participating in activities that liberate and empower man to live a life worthily of the dignity person.

Activities:       Empowering the poor and enable them to participate actively in the development process, policy formulation and Natural resources development.

  • Provision of awareness seminars and workshops in order to equip the poor with some basic knowledge on the social – cultural, social- political, and social economic realities that touch their day to day lives at local and international level e.g. Globalization.
  • Working out possible infrastructures (markets, roads, health services possibilities, especially in the rural areas.)
  • Education for the children and orphans through kingegarten education project
  • Eradication of Blindness through Eye treatment and education on hygienically on eyes and human body generally
  • Alleviating poverty through empowerment and capacity building. Searching for ways to create self-employment for the youth e.g. Hand craft, gardening, small business.
  • Advocacy on Gender issues and Empowerment

Research on problems affecting poor communities in rural areas SAME District.

  • Government Lobby.

Social Vision uses Lobby and Advocacy to campaign for the young people rights , farmers and HIV/AIDS awareness. Lobbying include working toward social and legislative change by discussing with communities through forums resolutions with Governments Officials.

Social Vision members also make regular visits to the regional and District Government offices abreast of youth and farmers issues and encourage the communication and good governance to improve community services and awareness.

 

ADVOCACY.

Working on Budget tracking with other Groups like SANGONET, Public Expenditure systems PETS with SANGONET and policy advocacy for the youth and Rural communities.

Follow up on health issues and School development.
