In Tanzania SGBV is a result of multiple soco-economical factors, such as male domonance culture, poverty amongst women, low education among women, out dated culture and traditions such as genital cutting and so on.

I agree. I think another reason for gender violence in Tanzania is the fact that women just do not realize their rights. inspite of all the campaigning in the media about women rights issues, women in the rural areas just do not have access to this information and they live theire lives thinking that violence against them is normal and excusable. I think this is why there is a very big need for community media to get to this audience and inform them on their rights and that violence against women is unacceptable. Im talking about the point of view of women because I am a women and I can relate more to their issues...
