Civil Society Capacity Strengthening
THE ORGANIZATION LEADERS AND ITS MEMBERS LACKED ENOUGH KNOWLEDGE IN LOBBYING AND MANAGING THE ORGANIZATION. BECAUSE OF THAT, THE ORGANIZATION FAILED TO PREPARE CONVINCING PROPOSALS WHICH COULD RISE FUND TO MEET ITS OBJECTIVES. IMPLEMENTATION OF THIS PROJECT SOLVED THESE PROBLEMS BY EQUIPPING LEADERS AND MEMBERS WITH PROJECT WRITE UP SKILLS, LOBBYING AND ADVOCACY SKILLS AND ORGANIZATION MANAGEMENT SKILLS WHICH WERE NEEDED FOR EFFECTIVE AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT OF THE ORGANIZATION. NOW, ALL LEADERS AND MEMBERS CAN PREPARE PROPOSALS. EVEN IN THE SCENARIO OF CHANGING LEADERSHIP, STILL THE ELECTED WILL BE ABLE TO ORGANIZE, PREPARE AND IMPLEMENT PROJECTS.

11TH AND 12TH JANUARY AT GNG HOTEL-MWANZA CITY. CAPACITY OF 12
PERSONNEL THAT IS SIX LEADERS AND SIX MEMBERS ON LEADERSHIP AND
MANAGEMENT SKILLS WAS ENHANCED
3. ONE DAY TRAINING ON LOBBYING AND ADVOCACY SKILLS WAS CONDUCTED AT
GNG HOTEL-MWANZA CITY TO 12 PERSONNEL
4. ONE DAY TRAINING ON ENVIRONMENTAL LAW AND REGULATIONS WAS
CONDUCTED TO 20 COMMUNITY MEMBERS AT GNG HOTEL ON 20.01.2012
5. SYSTEM OF MONITORING AND TRACKING ACHIEVEMENTS OF THE PROJECT IN PLACE
TRAINING WAS REDUCED FROM 6 DAYS TO FIVE DAYS BECAUSE OF BUDGET DEFICIT CAUSED BY UN- BUDGETED NECESSARY ITEMS. FOR EXAMPLE THERE WAS NO BUDGET FOR PHOTOCOPYING TRAINING MANUAL, RISE OF MARKET PRICE FOR SOME ARTICLES, AN ERROR DURING PREPARATION OF BUDGET AND INSTRUCTIONS TO ADD ANOTHER ACTIVITY FOR COMMUNITY MEMBERS. EXPLANATIONS ARE ATTACHED TO FINANCIAL REPORT.

Lessons Learned

Explanation
THAT WE WERE PREPARING PROPOSALS WITHOUT FORMULA IN MIND TO GUIDE US. WE WERE STATING THE PROBLEM AS IT IS WITHOUT CONSIDERING LOGICAL RELATIONSHIP OF ISSUES. THE FORMULA IN PREPARING LOGICAL FRAMEWORK ANALYSIS WE LEARNT DURING THE TRAINING WILL IMPROVE OUR FUTURE PROPOSALS
THAT GOOD LEADERSHIP IS DETERMINED BY BALANCING TASK, TEAM AND INDIVIDUAL RESPONSIBILITIES. AND THAT LEADER'S BEHAVIOR IMPACTS ON THEIR EFFECTIVENESS. SO THE BEST LEADERS ARE THOSE WHO CAN USE MANY DIFFERENT BEHAVIORAL STYLES AND USE THE RIGHT STYLE FOR EACH SITUATION
THAT LOBBYING AND ADVOCACY IS A PROCESS WHICH INVOLVES IDENTIFYING ISSUES, SETTING GOALS AND OBJECTIVES, DEVELOPING A MESSAGE AND IDENTIFYING TARGETED AUDIENCE, BUILDING SUPPORT BY CREATING ALLIANCES, DEVELOPING IMPLEMENTATION AND ACTIVITY PLAN FOR THE ADVOCACY WORK, PLAN IMPLEMENTATION, MONITORING AND EVALUATION AND REVISION OF ADVOCACY PLAN

NYAMAGANA WARD COUNSELOR WANTED THE TRAINING ON ENVIRONMENTAL LAWS TO COVER THE WHOLE WARD AND NOT ONLY NYAMAGANA MASHARIKI STREET. ATLEAST BY PICKING FEW PEOPLE IN EVERY STREETWE TOLD HIM THAT WE ARE IMPLEMENTING THE ALREADY ARRANGED ACTIVITIES. THAT OTHER AREAS WILL BE COVERED IN FUTURE PROJECTS
