1. Use of peer sensitization to target groups and use of visual technique has resulted to increased understanding on HIV/AIDS phenomenon among the youth. The targeted youth in Kinondoni district (youth from korogwe, Handeni, Chalinze, Arusha, Kiteto) are sensitized about HIV/AIDS and are ready for counseling and voluntary services if linked. With respect to rights education, increased consultation with LHRC for various issues of abuse.

2. Continuous discussion of project sustainability resulted to target group self establishment of VSLAs project – this strategy not only will it improve income level for the youth but will serves as a self propelling sustainable mechanism to the LIVES urban program. Already, the strategy is attracting in-group members who are eager to join! A total of 3 groups have raised savings of up to 500,000 Tshs and community funds of around 200,000Tshs as of September 2010 to the reporting period.

3. LIVES cultural approach to project implementation led to improved safety nets the youth in the urban; since June, 2010, 3 existing groups totaling 90 group members have spent around 800, 000 Tshs for helping the sick and transporting the dead to homestead. In the same note ideas on how to support fellow unemployed youth continue to dominate youth discussions. Ideas to facilitate start-up capital (that has reasonable interest rate) to new youth coming to the city with no employment at the beginning are in the youth on going discussion.

4. Kinondoni district council( along with key departments Planning, Education, Legal officer and especially Community HIV/AIDS Coordinator) are not aware of the magnitude of HIV/AIDS in the district despite of a number of actors in the district dealing with HIV/AIDS.

Kinondoni district council particularly CHAC office and other key departments strongly are willing and ready to maistream HIV/AIDS for the youth in their plans.
