WOFATA (Women Fighting Aids in Tanzania) Mtumba

Mtumba, Tanzania

WOFATA Mtumba October 28 2011.

The WOFATA member pictured above (centre) was unable to plant her seeds last season due to a bad stage of her HIV/AIDS virus. This lady was bedridden, but her bed was a plastic sack on the floor which she shared with her 2 children. As she was unable to plant her seeds she was unable to sell her harvest or provide food for herself and her children this season.

WOFATA Mtumba assisted this woman by providing her a mattress, cornflour, rice and beans.

Due to the nature of the problems highlighted by this patient, we decided that a scheme would need to be implemented to prevent further suffering for both this member and others like her. WOFATA Mtumba are in the process of implementing a Community Care Scheme, details of which are currently being finalised. We hope to publish the scheme and begin implementation by the end of this week.
