Rural Oriented Sustainable Development Organization

Masasi, Tanzania

The organization was established in 1998 and registered in 2000. The reason for establishment was to fill the existed development gap by the government towards fulfillment of people’s best needs. However, there is still a high level of vulnerability in Tanzania Mtwara and Lindi being among the most affected areas. But literature shows that the Lindi and Mtwara Regions are amongst the poorest and most neglected regions. Statistically, registered incomes reveal that most of the inhabitants of Lindi and Mtwara Regions of the South-Eastern Tanzania earn less than 0.15USD per day Water shortage has contributed gender inequalities as in most societies, women have primary responsibility for management of household water supply, sanitation and health. There is about 80% of small scale farmers whose life depends on subsistence farming. These are poor as they have very little knowledge of agriculture technology and market information.
