NEWALA YOUTH RESOURCE CENTRE (NYRC) PROJECT

Overview

The resource centre is meant to provide relevant resource information for youth that will help them make informed choice in different matters that relate to personal development as well as the development of the country in general.

Various resource materials will be made available by different stakeholders in youth development including the government. Information related to sexual and reproductive health, HIV/AIDS, poverty alleviation and entrepreneurship skills will be crucial ones apart from others that may also be relevant.

 The resource centre placed  in Newala town and will be resourced with books, magazines, newsletters, brochures and other relevant informational material both visual and audio.

Promotional activities

 There will be different games that will be organized periodically in order to attract more youth in the district to know where and what is in the resource center. Games to be organized may include indoor games like table tennis, table soccer etc, but also there will be outdoor games such as volleyball, playing ground where various games can be accommodated. There will also be a TV set, whereby different information containing Movies can be shown to youth.

Sustainability

The resource centre will be managed by Newala Youth Network (NEYONE), a youth led non-governmental organisation that gets new members each year. We suggest that there should be a subscription fee to the resource center  so as to take care of the running costs in subsequent years.

Budget

The estimated budget for the start of the project is 4,830,000Tshs. For the first two years, we expect to rent a house in Newala town for the purpose of starting the Youth resource center; the outcomes will determine the future of the resource center. We anticipate building a well established resource center if resources permit
