 Establishment of KINDIPHA

KINDIPHA+ is a network of Kinondoni District People Living with HIV/AIDS which was established in 2003 and got official registration on 2nd November 2005 with registration number No.13226. It was after a leadership seminar organized by CVM- EAP an NGO dealing with offering education on HIV/AIDS in Kinondoni district that involved 35 groups of PLHA. All 27 wards in Kinondoni District were involved and represented. The purpose was to have a strong umbrella NGO in order to fight the spread of HIV/AIDS in Kinondoni Municipality. Its formation was the result of the realization that the NGOs and CBOs of People Living with HIV/AIDs (PLHAs) in the district were fragmented and hence there was a need to have a united voice in fighting for their rights.

On 26th Sept, 2006 the group in collaboration with the Kinondoni Municipal Council formally launched KINIPHA as an Umbrella organization responsible for uniting, co-coordinating, monitoring and follow up of group member projects as well as governance. KINDIPHA operates in Kinondoni district only and it brings together various organizations of PLHAs in the district. To date it has about 42 member groups throughout Kinondoni District and has its own constitution The goal of KINDIPHA is to contribute efforts in the fight against HIV/AIDS in the district by strengthening capacity as well as providing technical and material support to member organizations. The target groups for KINDIPHA are groups of PLHAs, Widows, Orphans and most vulnerable groups.
