COSITA has on 14th February 2020 launched five year new strategic plan 2020-2024. The key strategic objectives to be dealt in the five year strategic plan among others are Women rights to ownership of land and other properties; Women and Youth empowerment programs towards poverty alleviation; Childern rights and protection, WASH practices and Enviromental conservation programs.
COSITA Board, management and members would like to express gratitude to all those who have taken part in the development of this Strategic Plan.
We are particularly grateful to those who assisted and guided us in sharpening our approach to achieving our objectives in line with our vision and mission. The Tanzania Human Right Defenders Coalition (THRDC) for funding support to the consultant in the development of this SP, and Mr Tumaini Mbibo for facilitating the development process of this Strategic Plan.
It’s worth noting that, this Strategic Plan is a living document; it is upon the management team to come up with detailed implementation plans and monitoring and evaluation frameworks for practicability of respective areas of operations. And where necessary upon major corrections, the COSITA Board, management and members will make changes to the SP as deemed fit.
Any shortcomings are those of the management and we would like to welcome readers and stakeholders to send us their observations.
The board and management of the organization would wish to welcome the interested parties to join hands whether IDEALLY, MATERIALLY OR FINANCIALLY to support towards the successfull implementation of the strategic plan for the betterment of the NEEDY community.
COSITA has a pleasure to inform the interested parties that it has signed a 16 months project funding contract with UNDP/UNOPs for the amount of TZS 49mil from March 2020 to June 2021. The project titled "Participatory Conservation of Community based Duru Haitemba Forest in Babati district, Manyara region.
COSITA board and management is greatful to the UNDP/UNOPS for their funding support and we promise to successfully implement the project to achieve the desired objectives thereof.
COSITA has signed funding contracts from two donors for the implementation of two different projects in Babati Town Council as follows:
1. Funds for the sensitization of policy makers and community in general for building of Girls student dormintory at Ward level Secondary School. Tis is a three year project 2019-2021 by support form Women's Economy and Gender Support - WEGS (preveiously known as Women Economic Groups Councelling and Coordination - WEGCC).
2. Funds for empowering women on the rights to access, use and full control of land and other resources. This is a two year project 2019-2020, of which the the funding contract is signed on yearly basis by support from the Foundation for Civil Society - FCS.

Executive Summary
Registered in December 2010 under the NGO Act in 2002, Community Support Initiatives (COSITA), is a local non – profit making organization located in Babati Township within Manyara Region, Tanzania. The organizational mandate is aimed at serving the marginalized, vulnerable communities and poor communities affected by social economic issues such as lack of safe water, high level of illiteracy, food & Nutrition insecurity and gender issues.
Our current Strategic Plan is still valid and is not due for a phase out until end of 2019. However, we recognize the need to mobilize resources as our organization continues to grow. In response to this we have also developed a Resources Mobilization Plan. Our Resource Mobilization Plan is motivated by our needs to identify methods to mobilize resources in order to reduce dependency on government funds or foreign aid.This document focuses on our Resource Mobilization Plan 2015 -2019.

We conducted a comprehensive analysis of the Income Generating Activities (IGAs) so as to effectively support our organization’s sustainability.The level of risk presented by each IGA has IGAs that would be the most viable projects for us to implement in order to generate 50 million through four IGAs by 2019.

- Position Summary:
Monitoring & evaluation learning (M&EL) Officer for COSITA will work in collaboration with the Projects’ team. Under the guidance and supervision of the COSITA Executive Director, s/he identifies, plans, guides, coordinates, supervises and reports upon all areas that mark the achievement of organization objectives. COSITA is looking for an enthusiastic, energetic and motivated woman / man to fill the vacant position, who will work with the head office in Babati with frequent travel to project areas.
- Purpose of the position:
Provide technical guidance and support to programs to comply with COSITA M&E Data Management guidelines, standards and donor requirements.
- Duration:
Two (2) years contract
- Essential tasks and duties:
- Develops and updates monitoring tools as per programs/projects M&E plan and ensure use of appropriate tools in collection, compilation, analysis and utilization within the program/organization.
- Developing and carrying out small studies in collaboration with program staff, developing quantitative and qualitative research instruments and carry out action-oriented research, assist in the preparation of Terms of References for external and internal projects consultants for projects evaluations and during formative and operations research/baseline surveys.
- Data Analysis and Strategic Information by managing the program database, compiling and analyzing project implementation reports and evaluating them against work plans, project objectives, indicators and the budget for strategic planning, disseminating information about standards of performance in the project, developing project M&E plans and lead staff in developing monitoring tools including questionnaires, lead the implementation of M&E plans and ensure M&E systems are well maintained.
- Facilitates projects’ Baseline Surveys, Assessment, evaluation and (re) design functions.
- Using ICT devices Ensures COSITA projects’ key documents and significant achievements are uploaded and regularly updated and retrieve information for sharing and feedbacks
- Facilitate operational review within the projects and establish status of implementation and also recommendations for management action.
- Facilitates programs reflection/learning, documentation of best practices and most significant success stories are included in the reports and shared with stakeholders.
- Assist staff in understanding M&E guidelines and procedures and develop initiatives for staff capacity building and coordinate guidelines on M&E standards and criteria;
- In liaison with the Executive Director will be organizing and conducting periodic meetings, trainings, seminars and workshops on M&E processes with staff, local collaborating agencies, partners and stakeholders to discuss program/projects achievements, challenges, lessons learnt and ways forwards/plans of action.

- Mbulu Mwanzo Bora Nutrition Program (MMBNP)
Mwanzo Bora Nutrition (MBNP) is a USAID bilaterally funded program supporting the Government of Tanzania through the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare (MoHSW) and the Prime Minister’s Office, Regional Administration and Local Governments (PMORALG) to lead, manage and coordinate the national efforts to improve nutritional status of children and pregnant and lactating women in Tanzania. Initially it was a five-year (2011/12 – 2015/16) program but has now granted an extension for further two years to 2018.
The project is led by Africare through USAID funding support and implemented by COSITA in collaboration with Mbulu District Council.
The overall goal of the program is to improve the nutritional status of children, pregnant and lactating women in Tanzania in order to decrease maternal anemia and child stunting by 20% in targeted regions. The program emphasizes strengthening the capacity of Tanzanian systems at all levels and across sectors to improve nutritional outcomes with a focus on community participation and integration.

- Working in collaboration with District nutrition Technical Facilitators (DNTFs) to closely supervise Community Health workers (CHWs) to reach project targets;
- Offering information and counseling support to target beneficiaries and their families to improve their nutrition behaviors;
- Preparing and participating in training workshops, supervision and team meetings as may be required.
- Prepare quality and timely monthly, quarterly and annual narrative reports.
- While Coordinating activities related to MMBNP, will as well coordinate the activities under COSITA objective for Child rights & protection (education, health, nutrition …)
