Implementation of CEGO-SAM Project at Ihemi and Ilandutwa villages in Mgama Ward in iringa Distric Council.
Community Health Education and Development Organization(CHEDO) has been implementing a project on Citizen Engaging in Government Oversight (CEGO) in health at Ihemi and Ilandutwa villages in Mgama Ward in Iringa Distric Council since March 2015.It has managed to do this project by working under the umbrella organization called TANZANIA COUNCIL FOR SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT(TACOSODE) funded by the American People through USAID.The project intends to ensure equal access to quality health services by the citizens of Ihemi and Ilandutwa villages in Mgama Ward in iringa Distric Council.The project will end in February 2017.There are other 8 villages in Iringa District Council that are beneficiaries of this project as delivered by two other NGOs called IMO and MMADEA. They are also working under the umbrella organization called TANZANIA COUNCIL FOR SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT(TACOSODE) and funded by the American People through USAID.The approach that is used in this project is termed Social Accountability Monitoring (SAM) whose cycle consists of 5 stages all of which converge in providing the basic human right to access quality helth services.The role of the citizens is not to be underated.They have to invest their energy (elan vital) to oversee the government so much so that it fulfills its obligation of providing quality health servises to the citizens.
