INCREASING ATTRACTION AT SPICE FARMS

Our association endeavour to decorate the spice farms with different types of spices to attract more tourists to visit the farms. The commission of tourism of Zanzibar has estimated that more that 100, 000 toursits visit Zanzibar annually and the assoication intends to use this bulk of tourist to visit the spice farms. The main activities in this title is to increase farm areas, to introduce new spice plants and to improve processing and packaging of spices.

SYNCHRONISING PRODUCTION AND TOURISM

The main challenge facing Zanzibar Organic Farmers is how to synchronize the spice production for selling and for tourist attraction. In order to attract more toursits a spice farmer has to diversify his/her farm with various types of spice plants. On the other hand in order to produce more spices for selling a spice farmer has to concentrate on not more than 3 types of spice plants. In Unguja island about 99% of the spice farms are exclusively for tourist attraction while in Pemba 100% of spice farms are for production. The assoication is trying to reorganize to bring up both interests at one corner. Help us in this!
