World AIDS Day - 1 December 2013

Getting to zero: Zero new HIV infections. Zero discrimination. Zero AIDS-related deaths.

World AIDS Day is celebrated on 1 December every year to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS and to demonstrate international solidarity in the face of the pandemic. The day is an opportunity for public and private partners to disseminate information about the status of the pandemic and to encourage progress in HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment and care around the world, particularly in high prevalence countries.

POVERTY FIGHTING TANZANIA (PFT) is among the organization invited by the Municipal of Temeke to attend the World AIDS day,which was marked at National level at Mnazi Mmoja Ground in Dar es Salaam.

This year was a bit different from the previuos years in Tanzania,as we began by exhibition of stakeholder's activities for six days and on 1st december was the climax.

PFT as among the stakehoders,is working to reduce the impact of HIV/AIDS socially and Economically,we know the Impact of HIV and AIDS is far reaching.They affect not anly those who are infected but indirectly affect their families,friends,emplloyers and others.HIV and AIDS make efforts to reduce poverty more difficult,and some places poverty is increasing as a result.They affect health Services,Education systems,Economic growth,Emotional well-being and family and community stability.

PFT focuses on the activities to help alleviate the Impact of HIV/AIDS on health,Economic and Social well being.We also focuses on caregivers,Families of People living with HIV and also those who may not be HIV positive but are still profoundly affected by virus,particulary orphans and Vulnerable children(OVC).
