We are  non religious, non political and not for profit Non Government  Organisation, dedicated to support grand children orphaned by HIV/AIDS , We work closely with community,stakeholders and  local government from Village to National levels, on projects which are child-focused, disadvantaged and vulnerable children (Children with disability,grand OVCs,street children, etc) ,and  elderly. We also aim to empower communities to create a better future for themselves.

Help Children Organization(HTO)  is committed to work in partnership with organisations supporting front line work with disadvantaged and vulnerable children (Children with disability,grand OVCs,street children, etc) youth,elderly people and communities, transforming their lives and providing them with life opportunities and the confidence to succeed.

Child Welfare:

Due to the wide range of projects, and high level of collaboration between them, it is difficult to split them into areas of work. However, there are  5 main focuses for our work which aim to give back children's rights.

5.       Protection of human/child trafficking.

6.       Gender-Based Violence.

7.      Community-Based Rehabilitation.

Our Current sectors:

Current sectors include Gender-Based Violence, Child Protection (including child labor project), Youth and Development, Health, Community-Based Rehabilitation, and Care for Persons with Specific Needs.

At the heart of all the work we support, we desire to:

•  Involve grand children and communities in developing and running the programmes to make sure we are really meeting their needs.

• Support those children who need it most, and adapt to meet their needs, regardless of how difficult their backgrounds or behaviors.

• Use innovation to continually improve upon our services, and make them accessible and enjoyable for children and families.
• To work for and with older people and their dependants (grand children orphaned by HIV/AIDS, OVCs, disabled children, and PLWHIV), socially, economically and politically.
• To voice, push and influence older people’s needs rights and entitlements to the community at large, relevant authorities, and other stakeholders.

Our General Scope of work includes:-  

To work for and with grand parents and their dependants (grand children orphaned by HIV/AIDS, OVCs, disabled children, and PLWHIV) within four thematic areas:-

1.     To voice, push and influence older people’s needs rights and entitlements to the community at large, relevant authorities, and other stakeholders.

2.     Lobbying and Advocacy:- for the rights of grand children  to improve their wellbeing and ensure they can access their basic rights to education and healthcare. They  offer support for grand children futures, through vocational training, employment opportunities and reunification with their families for those who are in streets.,

3.     Education:

            HelpChildren Organizationruns education projects, for Orphan grand children, street children and young persons (especially girls)  who find it difficult to access education . Their projects support education for all    ages, from early years education to vocational training for youth to ensure that they  achieve their goals and dreams of a   better future.

4.     Rights for Healthcare.

We support a range of vital health services for the poorest grand children and elderly people.

Eliminating Child Labour:

Globally the majority of child laborers come from the poorer sections of society. Social exclusion and discrimination, a result of poverty, children orphaned by HIV/AIDS, traditional cultures, broken marriage and   gender biases, are important factors that keep children out of school and force them to work instead of attending school.
Ending poverty and increasing access to education are therefore crucial tools in the fight against ending child labour.

Children who work are subsequently subject to abuse, both physically and sexually, from their employers and often work under conditions that are both unhealthy and potentially fatal. This scenario cannot continue.

Help Children Organization (HCO) aims to eliminate child labour, advocate for the rights of children with disabilities & to improve conditions for grand children and ensure they can access their basic rights to education and healthcare.  We offer support for their futures, through vocational training, employment opportunities and reunification with their families.,

Child labor often represents parents’ carefully thought out rejection of an education system that is usually irrelevant to their child’s future. 

Education:

Help Children Organization (HCO) runs education projects, for Orphan grand children, street children and young persons (especially girls) in urban and rural areas who find it difficult to access education. 

Our projects provide education for all ages, from early years education to vocational training for youth. We aim to ensure that the education they receive will help them to achieve their goals and dreams of a better future.

Our aim for education services:

• Access to early years education provided for pre-school children.
• Practical courses and hands on experience, and support to gain employments, through a vocational training center.

• A programme to assist street and working children to return to formal schooling.

•  Support for vocational and apprenticeship training, to street and working children.

• Education is particularly important in early age.  child life success depends on how seriously we involve him or her in early learning.

• We provide complete information about child education; give substantial advice on how to organize learning both at class and at home.

• The guardians will learn how to deal with gifted children, check out special methods and ways of their education. They can assist it with the help of educational software.

•  Investigate what types of programs will suite children; find more about harmfulness of computers for child’s health.

•  Follow our tips and make children education easy and interesting pastime. Consider different methods and ways of educating and bringing up vulnerable children.

Healthcare:

We support a range of vital health services for the poorest children & youth and eldrely people.

We focus on developing and supporting low cost, innovative and effective services and methods of health promotion. These provide access to essential primary care, and meet the more specific needs of the most vulnerable, which in future will include.

• Youth health services, including specialized outreach care for street based and working children.

• Mobile health clinics in both urban and rural  areas.

• Building a hospital- the hub for urban health services and referrals.

•  Building a residential unit for rural children and their families accessing specialist health services, with support services such as social care and education.

Children Protection & Social Welfare:

HCO provides a range of services for street and working children in Morogoro urban area, The organization provides a route for a young person from the street to education, training, and ultimately employment and a home and place in society. This collaborative way of working is very rare and probably unique. It also enables HCO and other stakeholders to work together on advocacy and networking programmes.

The range of services will include:

•  Educational support.

•  Basic healthcare.

•  Family and child counseling.

• Sports and recreation.
• Family reintegration and support.
• Vocational training.
• Referrals to other services.

• An emergency night shelter for vunerable children in collaboration with Amani Center.
• Legal support.
•  Children clubs.

Elderly care:

HCT's efforts.

HCO has been advocating for older persons, raising awareness of their experiences and lobbying for government and non government intervention through the following activities:

• Participating in events each year to celebrate International Older Persons Day.
• Participating in events each year to celebrate World HIV/AIDS Day.
• Participating in events each year to celebrate Mtoto wa Africa Day.
• Participating in events each year to celebrate International Women Day.

Action Required.

The needs of older persons are not included in relevant programs that seek to address poverty reduction. Older persons lack adequate political representation and there is limited advocacy of their behalf.

HCO is joining other older person’s organizations in a newly formed National Network of Older Persons inTanzania and partners of HelpAge International (TZ)  namely "Tanzania Older People’s Platform" – TOP to provide a more powerful voice for older persons and to lobby for much needed action listed hereunder.

1. Older persons representation in decision making bodies.
2. Introduction  and provision of Universal Socila pension or cash transfer scheme for  all older persons of 60 and above.
3. Inclusion of the needs of older persons in planning and implementation of all relevant national and local government programs and policies, including poverty reduction, health, adult education, shelter, nutrition, agriculture, water and sanitation.
4. Inclusion of older persons in HIV and AIDS education and support programs in recognition of their role as carers of infected people, carers of orphaned grand children and as sexually active members of society.
5. Provision of community care for isolated older persons.
6. Older people access to legal protection against financial and physical abuse.
7. Introduction of free health programs targeting older persons.
8. Research on and dissemination of information about older persons.

 

HCO positive about older people and care.

HCO has been quietly pioneering a revolution in Morogoro; planning to build high quality recreational centre for elderly in the future. Each will offer something more than care: it’s an entirely new and positive approach to senior living and well-being. The recreational center will be uplifting in themselves, but it is a combination of all factors - surroundings, services, care, and people - that creates something really different.

We aim to build award-winning and high quality older people recreational center that look and function beautifully. Plus, organize ourselves around the individual needs and wishes of EACH Older person

HCO  is  a  Non – Governmental  organisation  that has pioneered the positive revolution in senior living and care since 2008 in Morogoro Municipality.

Our reputation has been won amongst communities by concentrating on every little thing that can make someone’s life better.

Person-centred care.

HCO person-centered care model ensures that each person is treated as an individual, their independence is promoted and their dignity is preserved. But care being on hand 24 hours a day does not truly communicate the emphasis of HCO.

HCO  is about wellness and quality of life for people. Things that make life difficult are taken away and lots of good things are put back in, will make every day as enjoyable as possible.

No matter how best everything will be, we never forget that HCO is a team of people caring for other people.

We believe that elderly people deserve the best. They have usually spent their lives caring and providing for others and have earned the highest respect from others.

Our team members are chosen & vetted carefully based on their experience and, just as importantly, their positive attitude towards seniors and the contribution they have made to the society.

Women Welfare:

Help Children Organization invests in and brings visibility to extraordinary women around Morogoro region and Tanzania both urban and rural by unleashing their leadership potential to transform lives and accelerate peace and prosperity in their communities.

Women’s rights are a big question raised in our country and the world in general. It is believed that women have no rights or privileges in the male dominated societies.

First of all we have to understand that women have rights in society as men are.

The women have been constantly complaining of having being isolated from the mainstream of society. Women feel disillusioned on being maltreated by the male-oriented set up. They strong claim that if they are given a chance, they can contribute more positively towards the development of all social aspects.

However, the societies usually adopt a hostile attitude towards the women. Their development in societies is hindered due to many factors. Particularly the rural woman has to sustain, sometimes, Unbearable dominance by the other section of society.

Numerically the women in some parts of Tanzania especially in Mara, Arusha, Dodoma, Mwanza, Shinyanga,Tabora, Zanzibar and   Morogoro regions to mention few are not equal to men. They are not equal in potential as the men. The women live in the most diversified location of the rural areas. They can be a highly qualified and self-confident professional or a diffident peasant toiling along with her-men folk.

Although the conditions of women in urban areas are   better than those of the rural area women.  Yet the tribal   traditions restraints have hindered the independent and free movement of the women.

Sisi ni zisizo za kidini, mashirika yasiyo ya kisiasa na si kwa ajili ya faida isiyo ya Serikali ya Shirika, kujitolea na kusaidia jamii tofauti, Sisi kazi kwa karibu na jamii, wadau na serikali za mitaa kuanzia ngazi ya Taifa ya Kijiji, katika miradi ambayo ni mtoto-umakini, wasiokuwa na mazingira magumu na watoto, vijana na pia kujengwa kwa kituo cha burudani kwa lengo la kuwawezesha wazee na jamii ili kujenga maisha bora ya baadaye kwa wenyewe.

Wetu Mission:

Sisi na lengo la kuwapa watoto nyuma haki yao ya elimu ya usalama, afya, na jukumu kuheshimiwa katika jamii, pia kulenga ustawi wa wazee.

Wetu Maono:

Maono yetu ni ya mahali ambapo watu uwezo na matumaini ya baadaye Brighter na kutambua uwezo wao katika jamii ambayo inaheshimu haki zao na utu.

Msaada Trust Watoto (HTC) ni nia ya kufanya kazi kwa kushirikiana na mashirika ya kusaidia mstari wa mbele kufanya kazi na watoto walio hatarini matatizo, vijana na jamii, kubadilisha maisha yao na kuwapa fursa ya maisha na ujasiri wa kufanikiwa.

Ustawi wa mtoto:

Kutokana na aina mbalimbali ya miradi, na kiwango cha juu cha ushirikiano kati yao, ni vigumu kwa kupasuliwa katika maeneo ya kazi. Hata hivyo, kuna 5 kuu inalenga kwa ajili ya kazi yetu ambayo inalenga katika kutoa nyuma haki za watoto.

Katika moyo wa kazi sisi msaada wote, tunataka:

• Kuhusisha watoto na jamii katika kuendeleza na kuendesha mipango ya kuhakikisha sisi ni kweli mkutano na mahitaji yao.

• Kusaidia wale watoto ambao wanahitaji kuwa wengi, na kukabiliana na kukidhi mahitaji yao, bila kujali jinsi vigumu asili yao au tabia.

• Matumizi ya uvumbuzi wa kuendelea kuimarisha huduma zetu, na kuwafanya kupatikana na kufurahisha kwa watoto na familia.

Kuondoa Watoto:

Kimataifa wengi wa wafanyakazi mtoto kuja katika sehemu maskini ya jamii. Kijamii na ubaguzi, ni matokeo ya umaskini, watoto yatima na VVU / UKIMWI, utamaduni, jadi, ndoa kuvunjika na upendeleo wa kijinsia, ni muhimu sababu ya kuwa na kutunza watoto nje ya shule na nguvu kazi yao badala ya kwenda shule.
Kutokomeza umaskini na kuongeza elimu hiyo ni zana muhimu katika vita dhidi ya kukomesha ajira kwa watoto.

Watoto ambao kazi ni hatimaye chini ya dhuluma, kimwili na kingono, kutoka kwa waajiri wao na mara nyingi kufanya kazi chini ya masharti ya kuwa wote ni mbaya na uwezekano wa kusababisha kifo. hali hii haiwezi kuendelea.

Kusaidia Watoto Trust (HTC) inalenga kuondoa ajira ya mtoto & kuboresha hali ya kufanya kazi na watoto na kuhakikisha kuwa wanaweza kupata haki zao za msingi na elimu na afya. Sisi kutoa msaada kwa ajili ya hatima yao, kwa njia ya mafunzo ya ufundi, nafasi za ajira na kuungana kwa pamoja na familia zao.

Ajira ya watoto mara nyingi huwakilisha wazazi makini walidhani nje kukataa mfumo wa elimu kuwa ni kawaida lisilo na baadaye ya mtoto wao.

Elimu;

Kusaidia Watoto Trust (HTC) anaendesha miradi ya elimu, kwa ajili ya watoto wa mitaani na Yatima na vijana (hasa wasichana) katika maeneo ya mijini na vijijini ambao wanaona ni vigumu kupata elimu.  

miradi yetu ya kutoa elimu kwa miaka yote, tangu mapema miaka ya elimu na mafunzo ya ufundi kwa vijana. Sisi na lengo la kuhakikisha kwamba elimu ya wao kupokea itawasaidia kufikia malengo yao na ndoto ya maisha bora ya baadaye.

Lengo letu kwa ajili ya huduma za elimu:

• Upatikanaji wa mapema miaka ya elimu zinazotolewa kwa ajili ya watoto kabla ya kuanza shule.
• Vitendo kozi na mikono juu ya uzoefu, na msaada wa kupata ajira, kupitia kituo cha ufundi.

• Mpango wa kusaidia watoto wa mitaani na kufanya kazi na kurudi elimu rasmi.
