EMNet Launch Newsletter to Communities Adjacent to Pugu and Kazimzumbwi Forests Reserves

Sauti ya Uhifadhi Pugu na Kazimzumbwi is a new Newsletter that was embedded with a series of stories that aims to raise awareness to the communities that are adjacent to Pugu and Kazimzumbwi Forest Reserves (PKFRs). It is a cartoonized newsletter that is in a simple languages to ensure the community are easily informed and understand in detailed and instantly the project document at large and the its related issues like forest, REDD and its related concepts.

As output number 4 which is implemented by EMNet ‘advocacy, education, awareness campaigns undertaken’ describe the need to undertake awareness to communities to ensure the project goal ‘Pugu Kazimzumbwi Forest Ecosystem is properly managed, supports surrounding community livelihood and provides ecosystem services’ of the HIMADA project achieved.  EMNet launch Sauti ya Uhifadhi Pugu na Kazimzumbwi cartoonized newsletters to cover the knowledge and information needs of the communities adjacent to these two forests so that, at the end of the day to attract effective participation of these communities in the implementation of the project.

As Sauti ya Uhifadhi Pugu na Kazimzumbwi Editor and EMNet communication advisor, Secelela Balisidya emphasize on the newsletter that will be produced four times a year for four years (the project life span) and be disseminated to the communities who are adjacent and nearby the Pugu and Kazimzumbwi forest reserves who are the beneficiaries of the project.

The newsletter is for the implementation of a communication strategy for HIMADA project to communities adjacent to Pugu and Kazimzumbwi forest reserves which resulted from a detailed study conducted by EMNet in villages and mitaa adjacent to PKFRs as an activity in the output number 4 of the HIMADA project.
