Health promotion on safe motherhood initiatives and childhood care for reducing maternal and childhood morbidity and mortality rates.

Subsistence farming in Busega District, as in other most parts of Tanzania, is an activity that keeps people in poverty. Through poor farming practices, poor soil is created as a result of cutting down shrubs and trees during field preparation for farming ,charcoal (fuel) preparations and regular bush fires .

Bushes and trees are necessary for maintaining soil fertility. Cultivating poor soil resulting to low harvests and food insecurity creating no surplus a situation that leads to cash poverty as there is no excess to sell. Natural resources are not optimally utilized to solve the rampant poverty in the villages and   communities. The underutilization also shows up as over exploitation of the other resources at a given place, although the big picture is underutilization - e.g. One village may overexploit a nearby forest; Poverty and environment are closely interconnected in a way that the community may be the cause of environmental degradation due to lack of agro forestry skills to perform and invest in necessary environmental conservation activities.  Despite the foregoing scenario, establishing trees and shrubs in the farming systems can easily create fertile soil. Also integrated farming system where trees are mixed with crops and or animals on farm soil fertility will improve. Soil fertility will support higher yields of crops and results in food security with excess for sale. Similarly, forest reestablishment will promote water retention in soil. Streams will be recharged in their catchments due to increased water retention capacity of river sources.  FODEO planning beekeeping will contribute significantly to forest conservation and poverty alleviation. The arguments in the project are intended to provide farmers and forestry stakeholders with the necessary information and motivation to consider beekeeping as a viable commercial and protective activity that should always be considered, Little farmers know about the importance of bees in natural preservation and agriculture, and the impact of beekeeping can have on the life of humans.  Beehive products provide healthy high-nutrient food, safe medicines and raw material for industries. Forests, being areas with no direct agricultural activity, offer a source of organic nectar. However, due to lack of knowledge of rural communities and bad practices, some valuable beehive products are often spoiled or simply disposed of without benefiting from their full potential. Despite the favorable natural environment existing in almost all developing countries and the potential for building sustainable livelihoods in rural areas, beekeeping often lacks the necessary financial, extensional and technological support required to fully exploit its great potential in conserving forests and natural ecosystems and in reducing poverty. Under this plan , involving target group in addressing the main challenges according to the project specific objectives shall minimize the courses of lack of agroforestry, environmental conservation and beekeeping knowledge and skills. The Specific Objectives that the project is intended to achieve are:

To create awareness in agroforestry and environmental

To facilitate capacity building of target community and leaders community managed agro forestry and environmental conservation.

To establish a central nursery for supplying tree seedlings for environment conservation and carbon market programmer

To facilitate rehabilitation and protection of a water source/stream

To improved household earned and shared income through gender   mainstreaming

To reduced workload for women and children to collect firewood. the outcomes include improved health of target group and time saved. on firewood collection used for other development activities. Target community leaders are proactive in dealing with environmental related issues resulting into accomplished project targets.

c)   The importance of community involvement through village social welfare committees in participatory, planning and supervising the implementation of the laid down committee planned project activities

d)   To reduce the prevailing conflicts amongst the Villagers and their respective leaders so as to harness and strengthen good governance.
