CHILDREN AID Tanzania (CAT) was established and registered as a Non-Governmental Organization under Tanzanian law in September 2012 with registration number 5806. Prior to registration CAT started its work at a grassroot level by supporting orphans and vulnerable children and in June 2012 CAT became a partner organization of Sanitation and Water Action (SAWA). SAWA and CAT worked together as partner organizations in UNICEF School Water, Sanitation and Hygiene programs in Temeke district, Dar es salaam region, Tanzania for 3 years now. Apart from School WASH projects, CAT is also involved in Environmental programs with ngerengere river eco-camp and environmental services including Climate change resilience in Morogoro rural, Tanzania. To date CAT programs benefitted more than 500,000 school children, 100,000 Teachers and tens of thousands of rural communities. CAT was established to meet the evolved need in Tanzania for supporting Orphans, vulnerable/disadvantaged children and un-served rural communities and to provide an enabling working environment for putting to use the rich expertise and experience of national professionals in education sectors, child protection programs, WASH services and environmental services in the country. CAT works with government, public and private sectors to provide cost effective and imaginative solutions for education, child protection programs, WASH programs and Environmental services including climate change resilience and economic development issues. Our programs and intervention aims to contribute to the improvement of the lives of the disadvantages/vulnerable children and un-served rural communities.
