Ngelenge Development Association (NGEDEA)

Ngelenge village, Ludewa district, Tanzania

NGEDEA was formed in 2001 and got registered in 2003. The then Ngelenge village Chairman Mr Charles Kilumbu wrote a letter to Ngelenge sons and daughters residing in Dar es Salaam asking them assistance to construct a village dispensary where by then they were using Manda Health Centre situated 7 km away or Lituhi Health Centre accross Ruhuhu River with a lot of crocodiles. the letter was addressed to Charles Mpangala who showed it to Cecilia Nchimbi, Edward Karlu Mapunda and Athanas Haule. These plus Pius Mwingira, Christopher Edward Mapunda, Emmanuel Malingu Nyenyema, Alexander Akwinas Mapunda, Christopher Mpangala, Immakulata Haule, Lucia Mbonde, and others met and formed NGEDEA. After that the number grew to 25. We donated some money for the dispensary construction.

In 2004, Athanas Haule was studying his Masters Degree with one lady Maggie Montgomery from Ohio, USA at the University of Dar es Salaam. When NGEDEA organised NGELENGE DAY FUND RAISINING FUNCTION, she was invited along with her friend. She attended and donated. in addition she promised NGEDEA that she will go back in US and look for an NGO that NGEDEA will partner with. Thanks God, it was Engineers Without Borders San Francisco Professionals (ewb-sfp.org) Chapter. Since that year we are collaborating with this organisation in our various projects
