Since its establishment Children Aid Tanzania (CAT) has been involved in the planning, designing and implementation of different projects  and assignments in Tanzania. The tasks have involved community mobilization, trainings, infrastructure and development of facilities as well as institutional capacity development and enhancement. A selection of projects briefly explained below provides an overview of CHILDREN AID Tanzania (CAT)'s experience.

1. Improving the well-being of vulnerable/disadvantaged children project. This project was implemented by CAT in collaboration with local government Authority. The project 'CAT's learning centre' was supported by funds from CAT's board members. CAT established a learning centre with a nursery school and vocational training skills. Most of the children and youths who are served by this learning centre come from very poor families that do not afford to send their children to a fee paying centres and some of these children are orphans who can not afford to pay fee. Therefore, are freely served by this centre. Mtaa leaders provided back up support for the establishment of the centre and CAT leaders provided funds for the establishment of the centre with a view of supporting orphans and the poor. To date, the centre supports more than 100 children and 50 youths to acquire knowledge and employed 2 matrons and 2 volunteers.

2. School/Community Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) project. The project was implemented in 8 community schools of which seven (7) are primary schools and one (1) secondary school in Temeke district, Dar es salaam region, Tanzania with funding from UNICEF. It aimed at providing water supply, sanitation and Hygiene promotion to community institutions (Schools). The project was designed to utilize existing non-functional water system at the respective schools with solar powered pump (sun pumps). To ensure sustainability of the project, implementation was done in partnership with different stakeholders including the respective communities, Temeke Municipal and private sector. The project was implemented in collaboration with sanitation and water Action (SAWA). CAT was involved in community mobilization, trainings and monitoring and evaluation of the project to ensure project sustainability. SAWA supervised the overall project activities. The capacity building activities included formation and training of community user groups including school committee members, local government authorities, teachers and pupils for enhanced operation and maintenance of the constructed facilities.

3. Other projects includes, School/community water, sanitation and hygiene project in 9 schools in Temeke, Mvumi and Magubike community water projects in Morogoro rural, Environmental trainings in communities and schools in Morogoro rural in collaboration with ngerengere river eco-camp and environmental services. CAT was also involved in child protection programs in collaboration with Alliance of civil socities in Dar es salaam.
