Otter Conservation Project, following the truth that both spotted-necked otter (Lutra maculicolis) and Clawless otter are elusive mammals found in Tanzania and there is no any attention to them, Wanyama Pori Foundation decided to take measures towards conservation and preservation of them. This is being done in Saadani National Park where we guess that there are might be otters living in the Wami river, thus WPF is conducting a baseline survey to find the truth of the hypothesis.

Turtles conservation, in fact green sea turtle and Olive turtle are living in Pangani coastal Area especially at Maziwe Island where its a breeding site for them, currently there is a high demand for both their delicious meat and eggs, consequently there is overfishing and destroy of their habitat, WPF is now here to ensure maximum conservation/ protection measures are taken to secure the future of these wonderful creatures.

Landscape and Ecosystem Management

Both West & East Usambara Mountains are among biodiversity hotspots that we have been endowed in Tanzania apart from Udzungwa Mountains Natiobal Park, Usambara mountains have a unique landscape and the scenery is real fascinating, the mountains harbour a lot of misterious animal and its the center for both endemism and diveristy. The wild plants and animals are real amazing and there is a need conservation measures to intervene so as sustainability and future of these creatures is promised.

Biodiversity and Habitat Management

Tanga region is endowed with variety of living organisms(willdlife),and the habitat for inhabiting those wildlife is real fragile; that is many local communities are encroaching some parts of the protected areas for cultivation, grazing and sometime they change the wildland into communal land as they build houses which in turn they form villages. Due to this, many migratory corridors are blocked and there is no real free movement of wildanimals from one point to another. WPF is taking measures to advocate for the wildlands to remain as it is and communities should not intervene with this, again, WPF ensure that wildlife and the local communities are living harmony to one another.

Environmental and Conservation education

Wanyama Pori Foundation, WPF primarily conducting both environmental and conservation education to the villagers and hence ensure that local communities are aware of welfare of widlife and its habitat.

WPF is supplying brochures, flyers, broadcasting movies to the villages so that local community can see the impacts of the wildlife-habitat conservation.
