.1 Background information NGO Network for Dodoma Herein abbreviated as “NGONEDO” is a registered regional Network of Non-Governmental Organisation (NGOs) in Dodoma with a total of 70 autonomous member NGOs. NGONEDO was established in September 2000. It was officially registered with the Ministry of Home Affairs on March 26th 2002 with registration number SO. 11423
Since its establishment, NGONEDO has sought to build strong networks at both regional and district levels. Thus it operates in all six Districts of Dodoma Region namely Dodoma Urban, Bahi, Chamwino, Kondoa, Kongwa and Mpwapwa.
NGONEDO has been closely working with communities in all these six Districts through existing district networks. Participatory approaches have been employed in all kinds of development projects implemented by NGONEDO and its counterparts. NGONEDO has a vast knowledge of communities in Dodoma Region in terms of its geographical coverage, cultural and socio-economic experience.
NGONEDO membership is open to NGO, Non Profit, and Civil Society Organizations who subscribe to the mission of the Network and satisfy other condition for membership set out by the NGONEDO board.
NGONEDO is always proud of its history and of the work it has done in Dodoma region. NGONEDO believes that it has remained true to its mandate and core values.
2.1.1 VISION NGONEDO strives to be a strong Networking Institution that unifies and facilitate NGOs in provision of effective services so as to improve the well being of men, women and children of Dodoma region while operating within values of transparency, accountability, gender equality and solidarity.
2.1.2 MISSION To develop a strong Network of NGOs in Dodoma through sharing and exchange of information, skills, experience, responsibilities and resources within and amongst NGOs; strengthening the capacity of the NGOs and Civil Society for efficient and effective services delivery; Building of better linkages and support systems with other stakeholders; Lobbying & advocating for issues of concern to NGOs and the community
2.1.3 CORE VALUES Based on the regional and founding values of unity, love, peace, justice and sustainable use of local available resources: NGONEDO is committed and believes in: Unity and Solidarity NGONEDO believes in Solidarity among member NGOs and other stakeholders through coalitions and other relevant means. Networking NGONEDO believes in building positive relationships, sharing information, promoting dialogue with those organizations that support in furthering its mission. Participatory development and learning NGONEDO believes in the right of people to participate in their own self and community development which from our perspective is a basic pre-requisite to sustainable development, this informs our emphasis on participatory learning methodology. Learning Culture NGONEDO believes in promoting mutual learning processes between individuals, an organization, different groups within the organization and among different member organization and other stakeholders We value the benefits of being ourselves a learning organization and participating in networks with other organizations to share experiences and learn from them. Transparency and Accountability NGONEDO believes that organizations should be open and accountable to their primary stakeholders and donors. This is a fundamental basis of promoting a genuine and sustainable democratic culture especially among civil society organizations We also attach great value to innovation, teamwork and life-long learning among staff. We promote and develop these qualities in our staff in the belief that they contribute significantly to fulfillment of their potential and our organization’s development.
Gender equity and equality NGONEDO is aware that women and men do not have equal access to and equal opportunity to control resources and participate in decision-making and we aim to redress this imbalance in our activities. (NGONEDO is committed to towards working for a gender-balanced community for sustainable development Environment protection Along with social equity issues, we also acknowledge the importance of the physical environment in our work and the need to ensure that our development efforts are consistent with promoting the conservation of natural resources and the sustainable management of the environment Volunteerism NGONEDO values the sacrifices made by individuals and member organizations in pursuance of organizational interests. 2.2 Key functions At the heart of this initiative of establishing a Network for NGOs in Dodoma region is the idea of having an interface mechanism which will assist in finding suitable ways to enable the different actors to participate as equal partners in the various developmental activities. Specially NGONEDO’s functions/objectives include; · Creating and fostering the spirit of collaboration and cooperation amongst NGO member organizations and with both the government and private sectors
· Building and strengthening the capacity of NGO member Organizations and non members from regional to grassroots levels to effectively and efficiently achieve their objectives.
· Ensuring a friendly environment where CSOs in Dodoma can work freely and in friendly manner
· Facilitation of information flow to and from different actors including CSOs and the general public to make them aware of policies and other development processes, locally nationally and internationally
· Liaising with government institutions, donor agencies and other stakeholders in order to mobilize support towards achieving development
· Policy advocacy review and simplification for local use
· Linking groups, networks and individuals to share experiences on development and related issues.
· Resource mobilization (Human & material resources)
2.3 Activities The organisation in carrying out its core functions above named does the following: · Conduct skills training workshops on lobbying, advocacy monitoring and evaluation techniques.
· Build capacity through socio-economic literacy training to facilitate Civil Society participation in different dialogue at national and grassroots levels to create a bigger pool of “experts” (NGOs)
· Exchange of information to strengthen communication network on reporting system
· Raise awareness on MKUKUTA by participating and engaging in various MKUKUTA processes and local government reform program.
· Analyze different policies, information and establish clear positions on key issues.
· Popularize NGOs Act No 24 in order to enforce it.
· Participate in the development review meetings, workshops at regional and district levels to contribute and lobby for policy formulation and positive policy changes.
· Attend and Lobby & advocate at National meetings and other International stakeholders forums on all issues related to development of the region
· Conduct research studies on various socio-economic issues, document and disseminate information to various stakeholders
· Liaises and collaborates with District, Regional and National authorities, academic institutions, NGO’S Private sector and individuals for smooth operation of the organisation.
· Provides advisory and consultancy services to CSOs in the region

Tangu kuanzishwa kwake, NGONEDO ina hamu ya kujenga mtandao imara katika ngazi za mikoa na wilaya zote mbili. Hivyo kazi katika Wilaya sita wote wa Mkoa wa Dodoma ambazo ni Dodoma Mjini, Bahi, Chamwino, Kondoa, Kongwa na Mpwapwa.
NGONEDO imekuwa karibu kufanya kazi na jamii katika sita kila Wilaya hizi kupitia mitandao ya wilaya zilizopo. mbinu shirikishi wameajiriwa katika kila aina ya miradi ya maendeleo kutekelezwa na NGONEDO na wenzao. NGONEDO ana elimu kubwa ya jamii katika Mkoa wa Dodoma katika suala la chanjo yake ya kijiografia, kiutamaduni na kijamii na kiuchumi uzoefu.
NGONEDO uanachama ni wazi kwa NGO, Non Faida, na Asasi za Kiraia ambao kujiunga na utume wa Mtandao na kukidhi hali nyingine kwa ajili ya uanachama zilizowekwa na bodi NGONEDO.
NGONEDO daima ni fahari ya historia yake na ya kazi ina kufanyika katika mkoa wa Dodoma. NGONEDO anaamini kwamba imebakia kweli na mamlaka yake na maadili ya msingi.
