The formation of Community Support Group (CSG) is the result of personal initiative and efforts made by Mr. Alex I. Mziray who is a long time HIV/AIDS activist in Arusha Tanzania. CSG has been registered on May 2006 with the Ministry of Home Affair in the United Republic of Tanzania and given certificate number SO. NO. 14318. CSG members they have been involved in HIV/AIDS activities at National and International levels. The Organization apparently has a total number of 32 members and is in the process of recruiting more volunteers.. The Community Support Group (CSG) is an organization that actively works to provide education and support for those people living in the Kimandolu Ward district and other parts within and around Arusha, Tanzania . They provide this support by doing home and hospital visits to council those who are suffering from the virus and educate them about the medications available (Ant-Retroviruses therapy or ARV’s). Many people are opposed to taking ARV’s due to a local stigma against the drugs and those having HIV/AIDS. The CSG Project works hard to encourage all of their clients to continue taking them through counseling and education. They are actively combating the stigma against HIV/AIDS and ARV’s within the community. This stigma often prevents people from getting tested and stops them from taking ARV’s, sometimes causing them to stop taking ARV’s after they have already started taking them. The service the CSG Program provides is vital to combating HIV/AIDS in the community. Only by getting rid of the stigma surrounding HIV/AIDS and ARV’s can anything change.
