Women's economic groups coordinating council (WEGCC) is an NGO which originated from a committee formed in 1995 to coordinate the activities of women groups in Arusha, Singida, Shinyanga, Mwanza, Mara and Tabora regions.
In 1988 was registered as Non governmental organization envisaging communities with better livelihood in which women and men enjoy equal opportunities in decision-making, access to and ownership of resources and facilites. The mission of WEGCC was reviewed with focus on gender equity and socio-economic empowerment to vulnerable women in the communities for improved status.

The WEGCC's major activities have been

` Training in different fields including economic ventures

` Advocace on gender equity and women development

` Provision of advisory services such as assisting the target
group in access to, set up and running of micro-finance
schemes

` Networking to strengthen communities' links with different
institutions ang government
