ONE LIGHT RWANDA has supported families affected by COVID 19 in Musanze district , Gacaca Sector by providing food. We have built 3 houses for poor families. We still have 7 houses which need to be repaired or re-built. Children have got help from our partners for school matrials in 2018. We also welcome anyone who wish to volunteer with us. The money received is directly given to the One Light Activities, a regular and tight management is our motto. Clotilde family We still have the problem of one house who need urgent help to build a house (Clotilde family). A house is cost 1800$ She has a plot but she needs bricks, doors and iron sheets. Updates of August 2017 One Light Rwanda has been happy to receive French gilrs (Solou and Eve) who pay courtesy visit to One Light Office in August 2017. They appreciated the ongoing activities and promised to be One Light ambassodors in France. The children and One Light Rwanda team are happy to welcome new friends from France Any Help to achieve our goal is welcome! Alexandra Drame from Canada, brought a bags, clothes, shoes and 240$ for One Light Rwanda families. We thanl all who contribute to change life of poor people. During the meeting, parents were happy to meet her and they will learn a lot from her during the visits she will make in their families. We have treated the issues which families face such as lack of food, 5 famileis without shelter, and some families which houses need to be repaired. We thinked about how to request anyone who can help within country or donation from anyone who wish to help poor families to have food, house and school materials Updates: Chile - One Light Rwanda Ties: On 25 July 2016 ONE LIGHT Rwanda One Light is a social organization founded and registered in 2012 with Code 102614802 to improve the quality of life and opportunity for the most vulnerable members of our society. The latest statistics from local Rwandan Government show there to be 10% / 4000 families living in ‘extreme poverty’ in Musanze District. The standard of living is rising but the poorest families are being left behind to face severe challenges: Food provision = malnutrition, ill-health Access to healthcare = ill-health, preventable disease Cost of sending children to school = illiteracy, unemployment Lack of jobs and job skills = high unemployment, crime Fight Women based Violence The principal cause of these problems is the cycle of poverty and the lack of opportunities for children and families to break free. However the successes we have achieved give us hope. One Light is supporting 70 children and their families with schooling and 89 youth with vocational training linked to job opportunities. As laid out in this Strategic Plan, our work is focussed on two key programmes: Pathways out of Poverty – providing sustainable means for the poorest families to support themselves Opportunity School – vocational training linked to business demand for skills Both programmes focus on the poorest and most vulnerable members of our society, principally children. This proposal outlines the operations, people, finances and sponsors needed to achieve our goals. Overall organisational strategies are identified to help achieve these goals, foremost of which is to become the coordinating force binding the valuable work of many local NGOs and associations in Musanze. The plan finishes by breaking down the 5 year vision into specific and measurable yearly goals, to help us evaluate our progress and focus on specific tasks. Mission One Light’s mission is to ensure every child and family in Musanze Distrcits - especially the poorest and most vulnerable - have access to healthcare, education and an opportunity to break free of poverty.
