The organization for Women and Child Development Initiatives was initially established in 2007 by disabled women who thirst for specifically women and children rights.

The initiator addressed this idea to other three women who supported the idea and they developed a proposal to request funds to help with constitution development and registration to The Foundation for Civil Society.

The Foundation for Civil Society provided funds amounting Tshs. 200,000/= which were used to pay for constitution writing and registration.

ACHIEVEMENTS

Since 2010, WCDI has been known for its efforts to fight against women beatings that have been taking place in Meatu district, support school children where possible.

CHALLENGES

Since the establishment of WCDI, we have planned to do a lot but to date, we have failed due to lack of funds. We would greatly like to advocate for women and child rights especially in the rural areas where most of the women do not know how to read and write.
