KCDI as a Non- Government Organization has been serving the rural people of Kanyigo and surrounding wards. The Organization started its operation last June of 2001 and got its registration on September 05, 2001 with the registration of S.O. No. 11029.

The Organization envisioned to achieve, people’s empowerment, good governance and reduce poverty thru people’s participation. KCDI serves as the avenue for the community members to access opportunities within and outside Tanzania. It paves the way to improve the living condition of the people to become   financially secured in order to meet the demands of everyday life and achieve a better quality

The organisation has been registered to attain the following objectives

1. To improve Social and Economic Well-being of the communities in various localities for sustainable development

2. To initiate economic development projects in various localities with the aim of minimizing poverty and raise standard of living

3. To improve livestock keeping activities and agricultural development in the area by providing extensions services, supervise purchase, process agricultural/livestock produce and supply agricultural/ livestock inputs.

4. To promote microfinance entities and SACCOS in the area in view of providing capital to the communities.

5. To improve social services i.e. health, education, feeder roads etc by constructing dispensaries, hospitals and strengthening services of primary & secondary schools, vocational training schools with the view of extending to higher learning institutions.

6. To promote water supply and sanitation services to rural communities and strengthening water users groups..

7. To promote good governance and democracy such as transparency, ethics, accountability, fair election, anti corruption. etc.

8. To offer training to the community on health issues i.e. HIV/AIDS pandemic, Malaria interventions, mother and child health etc

9. To offer support and care for orphans and most vulnerable childre

10. To offer relief services to the deprived persons such as people with disability, elders, widows etc.

11. To conduct various researches on development and structural adjustment issues and to synthesize and translate this research work into practical use.

12. To educate, sensitize and motivate community on environmental conservation as well as structural adjustment issues.

13. To improve traditional technologies and cultural heritage

To do any other lawful activities as they are incidental or as the situation at hand may dictate.f life.
