Background

HuLiG is a registered NGO that has been initiated from the qualitative of the human life Promotion programme (HLP) in a main effort to enhance and empower the community for sustainable development in Tanzania. Its operational values, principles and methodologies are the long lines of those of HLP-programme and methodology approaches to ensure widely term sustained the social capacity building delivery.

During a 2006 to the end of 2007, the implementation of a Human Life Promotion (HLP) programme was undertaken in Temeke municipality. Where-by the objective of the Programme was to improve the awareness at communities level through facilitating under informative of body check-up practices service campaigns by follow-up and human life guidance against fatal illnesses and HIV/AIDS.

The programme was conducted under bilateral systematically between the community and stakeholder partnerships. In two years of programme implementation, an experience has been able to gain in application of low self awareness, capacity building, local CBOs, CSOs, NGOs development and partnership approach with local communities.

Up-on the years, the HLP transformed to a programme in mainly focusing into community from its serious challenges faced around on good life destruction, community participatory, gender equality sensitization and social development. The programme reached out 1,050 communities and enabled accessibility to right information in accordance their environmental situations surrounding them.

To capacitate the poor (needy) access and strengthen sustained working capability services to community promotion.

  • Cycle-behavioral changes:

     HuLiG will engage in capacitating and enabling the establishment of Peer Trainer

     Of Communities (PTOCs) and/ or Trainer of Trainees (TOTs) at community level.

 

  • Exchanging Programme:

     HuLiG to exceed an experience and ideas in community development will depend from different people who are interested at different thematic areas that HuLiG is performing.

Such areas are:

  1. Good Governance organizational operation
  2. Lobbying and Advocacy to community members and/or local upcoming CSOs
  3. Strengthen safety net (on how the communities can be organized)

 

  • Organizational human resources:

1.  To improve worker’s Discipline.

2.  To improve worker’s working environment.

     3. To produce skilled field workers.

 

  • Partnership affiliation and Net-working:

1.Partnerships-To build alliances with mult levels of NGOs /CBOs/CSO or actors for HuLiG to have the strongest collaboration for sharing experience and widely    information hanging over.

2.Affiliation-To make legal agreements with other NGOs that are willing to work with HuLiG on a specified thematic area for the community development

3.Net-working. To join in different networks that the HuLiG board Members will determine if it is beneficial to organization or otherwise

ACHIEVEMENTS

Supportive Provision towards:

  • HuLiG conductivity of an awareness campaign to temeke community members under informative approach for determining body check-up practices service by follow-up and human life guidance against fatal illnesses and HIV/AIDS at Tshs.1,050,000.00 in year 2005
  • HuLiG has provided the Organizational consultative services to upcoming NGOs about ‘OD’ practice approach for Organizational Development at     Tshs.1,940,000.00 in year 2009 and the same activity at 640,00.00 in 2010
  • HuLiG has started to undertake community capacity building program at community of chalinze ward that has led established Social Voluntary Developments –Teams (SOVDs) at once four to among seven villages in Bagamoyo district, ‘Pwani’ by 5,000,000.00 grant funded from the Foundation for Civil Society (FCS) Tanzania in year 2010 but the program still exceeding with no fund.

IN FIELD

 

Brief Introduction

Human Life Guide (HuLiG) started working in Bagamoyo Coastal zone Tanzania since its inception in 2008. With financial support from the Foundation for Civil Society Tanzania at Tshs. 5,000,000.00, for the project titled Capacity building on Organizing and developing Practice to community level at Chalinze ward. HuLiG interested to work on social Advocacy, good governance and Organizational capacity building to community level, Child School communities, Women empowerment, youth Peer Groups and up coming CSOs and also vulnerable children and Families.

By so taking such activities HuLiG has been a resourceful on coordinating, managing and implementing organ in Social capacity building projects towards the development in Tanzania under maximum relationship with government departments, SOVD-Teams (Social Voluntary Developmental Teams) while it has planned to additional focus on psycho-social support.

Therefore the proposed assignment is our core area focus to involve the initiative of club members and their guardians in sustaining the program while the gathering school communities will lead to a great impact or result.

The HuLiG working team comprises of multidisciplinary staff with experience of 5 to 10 years in the field of promotion of youth, community development and Organizational development practice. A combination of these fields within our organization makes us eligible to carry out ongoing programs.

Current Programs are:

  • Community Capacity Building Program (CBP)
  • Peer education Program (PEP)
  • Social Voluntary Program (SOV-P)

Preamble

During 2009/2010, Human Life Guide (HuLiG) implemented the project called Capacity building on Organizing and developing Practice to community level at Chalinze ward. This project enabled to establish SOVD-Teams (Social Voluntary Developmental Teams) that formulated by the four villages in Bagamoyo costal Zone around Tanzania. By outcome sustainability from that conductivity, it came up with initiatives of Net- working channel in order to support the sharing information, experience and build up together efforts for providing services to the community against social challenges.

Foundation for Civil Society (FCS) funded a total grant of Tshs. 5,000,000.00 for implementation. HuLiG other productivity is consultative services that offered during the year 2009/2010 to up coming CSOs.

 

From that to now 10 CSOs are benefited our services Since the commencement of Human Life Guide Organization where such as Organizational Development (OD) practice, Participatory Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation system, strategic Planning, CSO good governance and financial management skills.

Impacts:

During and after one year implementation since 2009 to 2010, HuLiG under conductivity and external evaluation undertaken by Foundation for Civil Society (FCS), it revealed some impacts to beneficiaries at targeted areas.
