LAKEZONE CLASSIC STUDENTS VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT.
• TASCCO as an initiative of young trained sports administrators and coaches identified a number of underlying problems facing the students of Lake Zone secondary school concerning sports needs. So they come-up with this idea of annual Lake Zone classic student’s volleyball tournament, which will bring teams to compete and show case their talents and not forgetting, people together as social gathering. Below are the identified problems facing the students and residents in the Lake Zone concerning sports?
• Lacking competitions and exposure among school sports events around Lake Victoria Zone
• Lacking identification, nurturing and show casing of talents.
• Lack of equipment and opportunities to play in an organized sport event.
• Lacking socialization and relaxation within the ordinary resident’s students in Lake Zone. In view of the deadly H.I.V and A.I.D.S, Drug abuses, behavior changes, ,there is a need for a multi sector approach in HIV/AIDS, Drug abuse, Behaviors change, Climate change education through sports arena
OBJECTIVES OF THE LAKEZONE CLASSIC STUDENT VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT
To have the most respected and successful volleyball sport event in Lake Zone. Bring volleyball sport to the lake zone community, empower volleyball sports and there by bringing the highest level of volleyball competition. Tackle factors that contribute to the spread of drug abuse among youth, HIV/AIDS, and bad behavior by providing knowledge ,life skills information and access to service and supportive environment. To increase recognition among sport bodies in Tanzania. Build and improve sports networks and partnership with all sports stakeholders,associations,social and busness community in the lakezone and National in general. Identify and develop sport talents so that we can build sport from grassroots to higher levels. Bringing people together as form ofrelaxation. The lake zone compertition framework is in principle ,good practices model for the delivery of competitive sports for young people,the framework has developed jointly by TASCCO,region sports association secondary school sports teachers and headmasters with the close collaboratively with local government sports and culture department.the vision is to develop for each sport a single competitive framework top to bottom that includes competitions in school and club.the framework seeks to increase participation in high quality competition within schools and club.the framework seeks for all young people and will also be used as the basis of there view process to transform talent identification and development for2015 and beyond developing lakezone classic competitive sports for young people. The ambition is to create a step change in content,structure and presentationof competitive opportunities for young people of school age by modernizing competition structures. For volleyball sports this will culminate in the Tanzania school game a pinnacle multi sport event which will profile the most talented young athletes aspiring to compete in the national and international competition

INTRODUCTION
Sukuma cultural center Mwanalyaku were established in 2006 following the general management plans of 2006.
The cultural center in Lugeye give opportunity to visitors especially from Sweden, Denmark, Canada, German to understand and appreciate the uniqueness of the Native sukuma culture, the livelihood friendly to the environment and harmonious to traditional medicine
At cultural center visitors have opportunities to enjoy Native sukuma cultural dances, see rain maker graver from Mwanamarundi clan Sitta buried while sitting and in round grave different from normal way and buried in the Rock Mountain along the center where people always go for ritual activities and throw coin for the intention of getting good wishers. Buy sukuma cultural handcraft and see traditional iron smith in stage and see how the knowledge improved. Photos, research information about different use of varieties of indigenous plants, traditional traditional a forestation, different species of traditional medicinal trees,
Camping site, sukuma cultural foods style, also the center will educate visitors about sukuma cultural life style, and sukuma story telling during the evening campfire [shikome] so visitor advised to share their happiness with Native sukuma culture community in Lugeye .they will be able to see the near KITONGO CHIEF MASHAULI IGOBEKO HOME and learn how sukuma chief manage their territory with a big assistant from Mwanalyaku.
So by visiting the center they will be able to experience sukuma total way of living practical in one week camping, experience Shikome how it was used as a training institution, instruction tools educating tools on transferring traditional knowledge.
CULTURAL DANCE
The sukuma tribe has a lot of traditional dance which gives the credits to distinguish from other125 tribes in Tanzania and east Africa in general.
GENERAL PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Through community involvement and partnership with other stakeholder, government and local artisans, the project hopes to provide a creative environment through empowerment of Mwanalyaku cultural center as a complement to the traditional school system. if the project will be implemented as proposed this center will be a place of opportunity for youth ,children and elders.
The center will offer creative options in the field of arts, traditional African theatre and crafts, and for the promotion of tourism and cultural products including African theatrical performance and exhibitions. Also the project will aim to elevate local culture and diversify the local economy, increase future employment expectations for talented youth while raising awareness of local issues in Lake Victoria zone.
The project will work with residencies and offer young people a chance to explore a wide range of national artistic traditions – all arts with special cultural relevance to youth and adults at Lug eye sites.
Through the project young people will have the chance to develop their skills in the planned forms, so as to create within Tanzania culturally powerful art traditions the project will form long terms relationships with powerful role models, to understand the cultural and social contexts of some of the diverse arts resident in the whole lake zone.
The project will work with youth, children and parents from indigenous and local populations. Youth at risk, ages 13 up to 40 will participate in order to increase their personal and professional talented skills so as to prevent their current need to undertake hazardous occupations at such a young age. younger kids, ages 8 up to 12 will be exposed to arts and crafts classes through selected and talented elders in order to develop interests these areas and also to preserve traditional knowledge. Work with parents will be involved in training issues that affect their children and their families. craft association will be established to help to search markets and control the quality of handcraft produced from the center which will aim to improve the livelihoods and well being of producers by improving market access, strengthening the producer association, paying better price and providing continuity in the trading relationship, also producing the promotion development opportunities for disadvantaged producers, especially women and indigenous people from the target areas
The project will identify a list of quality indicators for common trade handcrafts like Woven Baskets, Woodcarvings, Sewing, Pottery, iron smith product, also the project will try to identify a need that consumers have and assist the association member from the center to find a way to fill that need at a profit ,the project also will assess the markets,
The project planning in the future to establish a lake zone medicinal and herbal plants database and arrange plant gene bank that will provide an inventory of lake zone’s medicinal and herbal plants species this Database and gene bank will act as important pool of rare and endangered species and which intended to form the basis for propagating such species as well as a source for expanding the commercial production of medicinal and herbal plants
The project will establish EX-SITU FARMING DEMOSTRATION. The farm which will have planted identified for a farm pilot propagation and cultivation trials of Medicinal and herbal plants to remove the pressure on wild populations this should include pilot cultivation trials of threatened rare and high traditional medicinal demand and herbal plants use for human and livestock health. Collect data and document the data for the benefit of the future generation through this the community will benefit through the protection of endangered species, the sustainable use of medicinal and herbal plant s and natural habitat
The project will establish organizational galleries to provide an important resource for Tanzanian artist history .the list of recognized artist who have visited and whose work has been exhibited at the organization galleries, cultural center’s galleries will focus to provide constant stimulation for Tanzanian artist .Tanzanian artist and foreigner artist may apply their knowledge ,critical thinking, writing and communication skills by contributing to exhibition TANWONDER’S CATALOGS and other publications ,
Artist may also pursue research opportunities with area’s rich historic and cultural resources also the project intends to acquire a significant collection of more than 1000 paintings, drawing representing Tanzania and African tradition art from 19 centuries up to now. The collection will support development of Tanzanian and African art also the visitors may explore the rich artistic and cultural and traditions of Tanzanian and African art. The painting artist will be encouraged to approach galleries about exhibiting their work and to submit their work to TANWONDER'S exhibitions and competitions, and the artist will be able to attend the annual TANWONDER’S artist conference to make professional contacts and seek organizational level training opportunities and other work qualified will be regularly published in new African painting Catalog also TANWONDER’S intends to have computer studios at the Cultural center and design offer ready access to high end, industry standard equipment and software ,the facilities consists of an intranet of Macintosh, pc/ windows NT2000 and silicon graphics inc workstations configured with a diverse range of graphics software. Computer art , Adobe product lines.
The project need to adopt a multicultural approach to its work to meet the needs of participants in its program which will involve appreciation of differences, valuing the uniqueness of individuals, and commitment to working to re-address to equities in opportunist.
TARGET POPULATION
- 220 children and youth with limited education opportunities and at risk of working, ages 8 to 12 and youth between 13 up to 40.
- 65 families of the children and youth who participate in the project.
- 120 women participate in handcraft association established with the project.
- 140 artist participate in exhibition innovated by the project which will be included in the annual TANWONDER’S CATALOGY.
TIME FRAME OF THE PROJECT
5 years so as to build sustainability for the permanent sustainable development.
JUSTIFICATION FOR THE PROJECT
When talking about development, one very important aspect is the cultural approach because it is identities that distinguishes us and give us values, traditions, behaviors, morals and spirituality
Lake Zone has a large indigenous population, most of who are in some way connecting to the mining industry of the zones. This industry offers work under extreme condition that has changed a little since colonialism left more than 50 years ago. the influx of the colonialism complemented left an important cultural heritage in the lake zone in spite of this culture legacy, lake Victoria zone has no significant cultural promotion and has an image of a faded past and an industrial present.
The project believes that Mwanalyaku cultural center will create strong cohesive bonds with the community, including unification through shared projects, a means of expression for social issues and a sense of collective pride in the community’s identity.
the project seek to give children and youth at the risk of working an opportunity to develop artistic skills as a complement to their existing traditional knowledge, thus will provide alternatives for their future.
The project will like to promote cultural heritage through working with elders, children and youth at the risk in the project area the project location has a population of children and youth have the potential to become more profitable with the project also by letting people see the value in historical and contemporary culture the project aims to get the community engage with social issues. because culture is a connection for society; it is a bonding vehicle, enabling expression and collective responsibility,
the project expect that the children, youth elders and their families can develop their creativity through cultural activities and facilitate their integral participation in social and economic life.
GENERAL OBJECTIVE
To provide alternative enhancement of traditional educational opportunities to children and youth with a limited educational choices and at the risk of working in Mwanza region and the whole lake zone with the emphasis on developing tourism and promoting culture and to give the community access to the study and practice of arts, tradition African theatre, and hand craft.
by providing traditional life skills children and youth at risk can develop confidence of their favorable culture so as to make better decisions take control of the direction of their lives, and be an example for others in the community.
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES
- To promote and provide cultural education as a complement to traditional knowledge and offer a space and encouragement where children and youth can practice arts, traditional African theatre and craft skills.
- To feed the local economy by promoting arts and culture.
- To develop entrepreneurial and traditional life skills for future employment
- To help children, youth and families raise awareness about local issues in the community.
- To promote pride in Mwanza regarding the importance of local product and local culture to inhabitants and visitors.
- To organize cultural function dance contests and festivals, storytelling festivals folk music performance and folk art exhibition.
- To seek and mobilize resources from internal and external sources to help the center to carry out the projects.

- Develop training programs in the fields of arts and crafts in order to shape youth and children knowledge.

- To gain further traditional knowledge on basket weaving
- To learn how to make paper products from recycled papers and plant
- Community member will be the active partner to empower community tourism establishment and improve their knowledge on craft making.
