SENGEREMA INFORMAL SECTOR CENTRE     (SISC)

1.0          INTRODUCTION

Sengerema Informal Sector Centre (SISC) empowers groups and community as a whole by giving them a place of training, production, marketing and product development. It was registered on 2000 as non government organization.

2.0   OUR VISION

To be among the best organization in the area recognised locally, nationally and internationanally to stimulate growth and development.

 

SISC aims to create employment and generate more income for marginalized producers/artisans capable of producing various products and crafts works based on locally available resources.

 

3.0          SISC FOCUS

The roles of Sengerema Informal Sector Centre is basically capacity building, coordination, lobbing and advocary, evaluation and consultancy, Hence SISC Focus is to:-

  • ·         Promote empowerment of beneficiaries in initiating, planning, and implementing their social economic activities
  • ·        

 

4.0          GOAL AND OBJECTIVES

-          To provide consultancy and research activities to local community and groups

-          To promote sustainable livelihood for people struggling with poverty

-          To animate, encourage and mobilize people to form economic activities, aimed at sustaining their income generating projects as well as improving their economic status.

-          To cooperate with other bodies professionals and institutions, both national and international.

-          To enable people to take part in decision making processes

-          To create equal opportunities for women and men.

 

5.0          MEMBERSSHIP

Under its constitution and policy SISC invites, individuals, groups and institution which are committed to the mission of the association to become members on payment of entrance and annual subscription fees.

 

6.0          ACTIVITIES AND SERVICES

In order to achieve its mission and goals, SISC;

  • ·         Facilitates an efficient and effective advisory support and coordination of the community development programmes
  • ·        
  • ·         Enable the organization and development programmes to be self sustaining
  • ·         Support research on development issues
  • ·         Undertake training programmes
  • ·        
  • ·         Provides a permanent working space for rent to artisan

 

7.0          SISC MANAGEMENT

The board of directors is the Top decision making body, comprising of members who are elected chosen by the annual general meeting of members on the basis of their competence, integrity and commitment to development of the association.

Day to day operations is in the hands of competent management team lead by program coordinator.

8.0          HOW DOES SISC SUSTAIN ITS SELF

The aim at long term is to have self sustaining organization by establishing means of source of funds for running the organization through:-

  • ·         Having its own source of funds
  • ·         Membership fees and contribution
  • ·         Fundraising
  • ·         Contribution from internal and external individuals or agencies committed to community development or wishing to support the organization

 

 

 

9.0          OUR MISSION

Our mission is to promote sustainable economic growth and employment creation in Tanzania by developing and promoting technologies which can be used by dynamic entrepreneurs to establish and run profitable small scale enterprises.

10.0     OUR BELIEFS

We believe that, self – motivated entrepreneurs managing small scale businessman are the most effective agent for developing emergent economies.

 

11.0     OUR APPOACH

-Identify high potential small enterprise opportunities through market and sub sector studies

-Design and develop the technologies required for the new enterprise

-Assist new small Enterprises with product development marketing technical and businessman skills.

-Support and organizes initiatives by group members for their own social and economic development and for the development of their communities.

 

12.0     SISC IMPACT

SISC impact are fully self- sustaining, Technologies are installed in the private sector and continue to produce, marketed, and used by entrepreneurs to create thousand of vibrant new businesses and jobs.

Our Programme coverage areas are Sengerema District and other interested districts in Tanzania.
