PBC receives 40 basketballs from US Embassy

On behalf of the US Ambassador, J. Michael Tritchler, has delivered a total of 40 basketballs to Pemba Basketball Club. He said on the occasion of receiving of such assistance in the Umoja ni nguvu hall in Mkoani, Pemba that, his country will continue to support the efforts of Pemba Basketball Club.
And the guest of honour, Mr. Affan on behalf of the District Administrative Officer, has praised the efforts of the leaders of Pemba Basketball Club and has also offered thanks to the U.S. Embassy. In advance before the club has promised to contribute cash 50,000 / =.
President of Pemba Basketball Club, Hussein Matora Hussein, has offered heartfelt thanks to the American Embassy and the American people. He said the club is with the people of America and promised to offer great cooperation to the American people. The President also stressed the issue of education and has said that in addition to providing training in this game, the club also offers life skills for youth in order to prevent them from the scourge of drugs and immoral groups. The President has appealed to donors within and outside the country to emulate the example of the United States in support to the club.
Pemba Basketball Club was established in 2011 and has gained official registration from the Ministry of Sport Zanzibar in 10/01/2012. At present the club has 63 young people aged under 14 years, and has a total of only four trainers.
