The Project: Awareness Raising on Old Age Policy of 2003 to Old Age people at Themi ya Simba village addresses the KRA by raising awareness on the existence of old age policy to the old people and community at Themi ya Simba village so that, they can be able to engage in advocating for changes of policies that affect their well being so that what is required by the old age policy of 2003 is effectively implemented in achieving the expected result that address old aged people concern.

1. Old age policy of 2003 is introduced to the community and implementation of what
is in the policy is done towards the end of October, 2011
2. Existence of old age people councils with the capacity to discuss and demand their
basic needs as stipulated in old age policy of 2003
3. Increase in number of old age people in different platform which advocates for
their rights

1. One (1) awareness raising training on old age policy of 2003 to 75 old people at

2. Five (5) old age councils in Themi ya Simba village were formed

plans
2. Increased number of old age people who get service as per old age people policy
of 2003
3. Formation of 5 old age people councils at Themi ya Simba village
4. Increased number of old age people who participate in different fora in the
village

B. Mabadiliko yaliyoletwa na Mradi

1. Old age people and community at large at Themi ya Simba village are aware of
existing old age policy of 2003 and they are able to demand their right as
stipulated in the policy.

C. Mabadiliko mengine yoyote yanayotokana na utekelezaji wa shughuli za mradi huu

1. Formation of village old people council with members from five (5) sub village
councils facilitated by TOACT from the 5 sub village councils anticipated by the
project.
2. Implementation of meetings for old age people and identification of their needs

The understanding of the policy to the old people was so high in such a way that they thought it was wise to form a village councils as an umbrella from the 5 sub village councils instead of each council in the same village presenting/airing its views.

Maelezo
Awareness of the existence of old age policy of 2003 to old aged people and community at Themi ya Simba village was zero
Government workers such as village executive officers, health workers are not aware of the existence of old age policy of 2003
The division of responsibility is based on the following areas: Central government, local government, families/village and non governmental organization (Chapter 4 of the old age policy of 2003) therefore each should play its part in implementing the old age policy.
There should be a special committee between the organization and the old age people so that step by step implementation of what is contained in the policy can be followed.
Skepticism was shown by most old age people on how different stakeholders can be involved in the implementation of old age policy and the willingness of the stakeholders to incorporate old age policy in their policy
Old aged people have ample time and they can learn fast when given opportunity to learn hence the process to give them education should be continued

Changamoto

Eleza masuala yaliyochangia katika kutofikia malengo ya utekelezaji wa shughuli na namna mlivyokabiliana nayo.

Higher number of participant than the expected 75 target group.	A consensus was reached that; the little resources available be shared among many,and hence the extra number of people were allowed to attend the training.
Documentation of the activities and case studies with the little budget available for the project.	Contribution were thought from different stakeholders as well as organization staff.
Participation of old people of more than 80 years old.	Reduction of lecture time and concentrate on discussion plus experience sharing among the participants.
Old aged people raised concerns on social and economic issues affecting their lives such as lack of income and the acute shortage of water	Direction was given to channel such concerns to the village authorities concern
Old aged people complained that are not involved in the village council meetings	Direction was given that the resolutions to be reached by the councils of old age people to be submitted to the village council meetings

CHAMA CHA WAZEE WASTAAFU MKOANI ARUSHA (CHAWAMA)	As an organization with retired public servant; they gave advice tireless wherever needed especially when link with the government was thought.
Comfort Holiday	Its director Mr Nyatto contributed in areas where the budget was not enough.
Banana Investment Company Limited	Its director Mr Olomi was the guest of honor during the opening of the training.
ITV, Radio One	They were involved in documentation and airing the event in different media such as TV, Radio and newspapers as well as preparing the documentary
