As per constitution, the NGO strive to work for the marginalized and most constraints children, youths and women. However the NGO runs eight projects funded by different donors. The activities are per chart below

(i) Basic Education:

The NGO operates a Day Care Centre since 1997 known as the Zawadi Day Care

  Centre.

We started with 20 children aged between 3 and 6 years.  Through expansion, we are

now enrolling 100 children of  same age since 2005.

In our efforts to provide services to the most needy in our community, 60% of the 100 children are most vulnerable and orphans and 40% come from better to do families.  The main aim here is to make these children grow together without sense of stigmatization.

Children, apart from playing and enjoying the indoor and outdoor games, also learn    kiswahili medium curriculum according to the guidelines of the ministry of Health and Social Welfare.

We also have a Granny Programme whereby 16 grannies come weekly and by roster to give traditional indigenous stories that provide the children with African ethics insight. The Centre has 3 qualified child care takers, 1 school caretaker and 1 attendant.  Together with this, the school has a feeding programme.

(ii) Poverty Alleviation:

CDTFN addresses MKUKUTA (National Strategy for Poverty Reduction and Income Growth) to the targeted group by providing capacity building through entrepreneurship seminars and are empowered with soft loans to facilitate them with petty businesses.

Since 2003, CDTFN has been providing soft loans to widows, young parents and youths, to date, we have credited Tsh 30,000,000/= to more than 10,000 people in the community we serve.  The impact is vivid, through dialogues; most of our borrowers have used the profit generated to build houses, buy large fields, send children to higher education, expand and diversify their businesses, and improve the number of meals per day.

The repayments are prompt and this is an indicator that our borrowers are making some profits.  This is our 6^th year since we started giving out  loans and we have all the guts to say that our borrowers have improved their economic security, and so we say CDTFN is here to stay.

(iii) HIV/ AIDS PREVENTION AND INFORMATION:

CDTFN is working closely with the Government designed HIV/AIDS strategies.(TACAIDS)  We are now using peer educators and members of the community to give information regarding behavioural change towards safe sex.  Those with HIV+ from the community are given home based counselling and power flour, 2kg per month each.

(iv) ORPHANS CARE:

Since 2005, the Organisation has been supporting the orphan pupils of Changarawe, Mzumbe and Mikongeni Primary schools with Tshs: 60,000/= each year per child to cater education materials such as exercise books, school uniforms, shoes, school bags and basic social needs such as mattresses, mosquito nets and bed sheets.

(v) CARE OF THE ELDERLY:

CDTFN is currently supporting 24 grandmothers and 4 grandfathers with their social-economic needs such as mattresses, Mosquito nets and bed sheets.  Once a month they do join on their social day for meals, traditional songs, dancing and drinks.  They also get monthly food package of beans and flour and a monthly token allowance from their gardening .  CDTFN is concerned about the aged people as they are a  community THINK TANK .

(vi) MALARIA ERRADICATION: USA and Tanzania government joint efforts in eradicating  malaria.  The programme work in 8 villages with 8 Health workers as Community Change Agents (CCAs) in Mzumbe and Mlali wards, Mvomero district.

(vii)ACCESSING GIRL CHIRD TO BASIC EDUCATION: CDTFN work  in partnership with CARE Tanzania, in accessing girls from pastoralist communities to quality basic education in Mvomero district, however it’s our ambition to work with other partners to reach other marginalized communities.
