ORGANIZATIONAL BACKGROUND

BAKWATA was established on 17 December 1968 and in 1980 BAKWATA - Serengeti began social work recognizing the importance of contributing to the social development of the people of the Serengeti district.

BAKWATA is a non-profit organization that unites people spiritually to live together as brothers regardless of gender and age.

BAKWATA conducts spiritual activities and development including

- Water and sanitation

- Education

- Health

- Child welfare

- Women's empowerment

- Community Development

- Environmental protection

- Social Services

- Agricultural Development

- Disability welfare

- BAKWATA fights sexual violence and female genital mutilation against women and children.

VISION STATEMENT

BAKWATA's vision is to see communities living in the Serengeti district living in Peace, Reconciliation to provide opportunities for people to engage in development activities, as well as to protect animals and other creatures living in the Serengeti National Park and game reserves within the Serengeti and the Nation as a whole.

MISSION STATEMENT

To mobilize and to motivate the community as a social tool through innovation and dynamics to contribute significantly to improving the social life and sustainability of the Serengeti wildlife and environment.
